Email from customer. Not the first time.
Aloha, I have just placed an order but it will not let me check out as it is saying that my email address is incorrect!! I put in the same email address that I have had for over 3 years with paypal and everyone else. Can you please let me know what the glitch is?
Ty,
Carol Guzy
In the past occasionally I have seen first hand that checkout will not accept a valid email address as valid. Why?

There is no item number. It was to be a storefront order which is a cookie on the customers computer at this point. It won't enter Vendio's system as an order with a ref # until they complete checkout. They cannot complete checkout as the email address they are trying to input is rejected as invalid.
This was my reply to my customer:
Hello,
I have passed your emial on to Vendio, the service which maintains my storefront. I have not been able to duplicate the problem. Until the checkout is actually confirmed I have no access or record of the specific items, quantities or totals. If you send me a detailed list I can force the system manually.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Thanks,
Dave

I sent the reply email to my customer. I have sent no email to Vendio. The only communication with Vendio has been through this thread.

I have not heard back from Vendio. My checkout is not functioning correctly. Here is an email received as follow up from a frustrated buyer:
Here is what I want to order, please help me, I went in again and it still will not recognize my email address! This is so frustrating.
Please be sure to add shipping priority mail/INSURED.
Mahalo, I will wait to hear what and how you want me to pay using this.

And of course since these numbers are randomly generated unique to this transaction I have no way of determining the items.
I wrote you an email yesterday but did not hear back from you. Please email me at [email protected] and let me know what the email address of the person was.

Hello,
I am writing regarding the thread you started this morning about
checkout problems. I did not want to ask about the email address in the
forum due to privacy reasons -- would you mind letting us know what the
email address was of the customer who cannot purchase from your store?
Best Regards,
Sonya

Although seemingly logical your explanation sent by email is not applicable. I have in the past when entering a storefront item received this error when trying to enter an address in the checkout. There were no spaces or reserved characters being used in the email address, my solution at that time was to enter another address and then use the edit to change the address then use the combine to attach to an existing ebay item. My customers will not put up with this method nor will I. I realize there is no email verification routine employed however the checkout does malfunction, an oversimplification would be to state the error message is being generated in error and obviously is not applicable. I am equally sure that my customer, if they are not an ex customer is not interested in pursuing this matter as for them it has been a waste of time and effort. If I were them I would have blown me off some time ago.

I was entering name, address and email after selecting storefront items. When I attempted to confirm the order to get a total I received the error (invalid email address). The email address I was entering was my own. I was trying to buy an item from myself in order to duplicate the problem a customer made me aware of. This does not seem to happen all the time but does happen. Currently I have 1 customer attempting to use the storefront although I have not heard from them since yesterday and expect they have lost interest due to frustration with the Vendio storefront.
I was finally able to replicate this problem by putting a space before and after the email address. Please tell your customer to make sure there are no spaces of any kind before or after his email address (if he is copying and pasting his email address to the field, a lot of time this will add a space to the line).
