I got my first Vendio auctions listed last night and they look pretty good. Just to test them out, I ran a search for them using key words in the title and clicking the SEARCH FOR ITEMS ACCEPTING PAYPAL button. Nothing showed up...not a single one. How do I correct that? I know quite a few people use that option when they search, so it is important that it works...
THANKS!

Depending upon how long you did your search on eBay for your Vendio assisted listings, your items would be able to be found on eBay for approximately 3.5 hours. This is the amount of time it takes for eBay to cycle through all new listings and add them their index. It is interesting despite how petty, that the clock begins ticking on your auction as soon as you list to eBay, while they take this amount of time to list it. Next time wait a bit more and I'm sure your item will be found. Maybe you've already noticed that you can search and find it as of this writing.

No, that is not the problem. I'll try to explain better....The auctions are showing up under a basic key word search. But when you go to the Ebay search page and check the box at the bottom that says "search for items that accept Paypal" the auction does not show up. I just started going back into my auctions, REVISING them, and adding the Paypal information that way. Now they are working, but we should NOT have to do that for each auction. Paypal, Ebay & Vendio should be integrated so that extra steps like that are not necessary.

Hi Dwbster,

I ran a search on eBay using one of your items. I checked off the PayPal search box and searched "Classic Elegance" and your listing "Classic Elegance 1940s CROCHET PILLOWCASE nr" comes up. So the PayPal search is working -- if you are missing items in it, you may want to try contacting eBay about it.

Thanks Sonya! BUT.....they are ONLY showing up because I have spent the morning MANUALLY going into my auctions and MANUALLY revising them to accept Paypal. Here is an auction I have not touched yet: 2562279568 Try searching for it and see what happens. Thanks.

Hello,

Did you just recently change your PayPal preferences in Global Preferences to include PayPal logo and button in your listings? That is the option that automatically inserts your listings in the PayPal search, and enabled eBay checkout for listings.

Sonya

Yes Sonya...that has been enabled since the begining. If you will notice, the Vendio Paypal logo is inserted into the auction. BUT...also notice that if you scroll down to the very bottom, past the Vendio template and into the standard Ebay stuff, it says I accept personal checks & money orders only. No mention of Paypal there. In all of my other Vendio-generated auctions I MANUALLY went back and corrected that, and from that point on it shows up in the Paypal search. #2562279568 is the only auction I have not corrected, becasue I wanted to be able to show ya'll what I was talking about.

AND...I have another friend who is new to Vendio and she is having the same problem....

I'm putting this question back up on top, because frankly I'm interested in the answer. I know the reason you don't have paypal listed as a form of payment is because you probably enabled Vendio check-out instead of the eBay check-out. The only way to have it read Paypal at the very bottom is if you enable the eBay check-out. That part is governed by eBay, not Vendio. At least, that's what I was told a couple of months ago. I would like Vendio to answer your question regarding why your items are not showing up in the search for paypal users, unless you manually do it yourself. Sounds like it might also be linked to the fact that since you're not enabling eBay check-out, they are unaware that you are a seller that offers Paypal. Is there a work-around for this, Vendio -- other than manually doing every bloody auction we have?

Hello,

"The only way to have it read Paypal at the very bottom is if you enable the eBay check-out. "

That is incorrect. It will read PayPal at the bottom as long as you have your Vendio preferences for PayPal setup with the following option :
'Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo in my listing'

This can be set via the My Account tab, under the Global Preferences link found within.

Regardless of what you have setup for PayPal preferences at eBay directly, using the above option will always place the PayPal logo down in your listed payment options on eBay.

dwbster - I will check further into the issue you are working on specifically.

Christopher -

It still means you have a button that will detract from buyers using the Vendio check-out, correct? That's basically what I meant. If you turn that on, that is the function that will cause people to go directly to paypal and avoid the Vendio check-out. You should make that clear. And if I'm wrong about that, then what the heck has all this stuff been about anyway? I prefer people go thru my Vendio check-out, but want to offer a paypal button also. At this point, that is not an option - or has something changed? I keep getting different answers. But the last thing I got from you guys was that that was not an option at this point.

Christopher:

One additional question. On the first option, I had the 2nd box checked, but on the 2nd option, I had no boxes checked. I have checked the option to say I prefer Paypal payments. Will that now add that I accept Paypal in the eBay payment options? Because I didn't have that I accept paypal either, but I do have see ad description for additional payment instructions (or something like that).

Hello dwbster,

It appears that the PayPal logo was not appearing down at the bottom of the page in the ebay specific payments accepted section because you were using the option on Vendio to list only the PayPal logo previousley.

With your account currently setup on Vendio to 'Include the PayPal Checkout button and logo in my listing' - you will now get both the logo you had before where you saw it in the Vendio template, as well as in the ebay specific payments accepted section.

Christopher

Hello toyspast,

Please bear with us while we work through this transition - we are doing the best we can but the messaging is extremely confusing (even for us!)

I am a little unsure of your question "I prefer people go thru my Vendio check-out, but want to offer a paypal button also" when your earlier messaging indicates that you do not want a Paypal button that will compete with your preferred Vendio checkout. Based on that you should probably do the following:

- Leave your Vendio preferences set to "include the Paypal logo only".
- Select "Tell my buyers that I prefer Paypal payments" and "Show Pay Now button for Paypal only" in your eBay preferences.

This will allow a Pay Now button to be displayed in the closed listing, and a Paypal logo in your active listing, but will only allow your user to only pay via Paypal if the Pay Now button is used (vs. the other payment options that may be available if your buyer uses the Vendio checkout.)

I think this is what you were looking for. Please let me know if I've managed to confuse the issue even more...

Thanks,

Diana

Diana:

I need just a teeny bit more to understand. You say the following:

"This will allow a Pay Now button to be displayed in the closed listing, and a Paypal logo in your active listing, but will only allow your user to only pay via Paypal if the Pay Now button is used (vs. the other payment options that may be available if your buyer uses the Vendio checkout.)"

Does that mean, that when my auction closes, that a buyer cannot go thru my vendio check-out and pay with paypal? If so, at what point are they not allowed to do that? Is there no link at the end of the process? Please clarify. Also, which option would be the one that would have placed a PayNow button in my ads. The only thing I changed was to say I prefer paypal payments. Other than that, I already had done all the things you list above, and I did not have a paynow button in my ads. Also, to better clarify something you appear to be confused about, is that I want a paypal button for the small percentage of buyers who seem to fall apart if they can't pay from my auction page directly. I'm dealing with one lady in Canada who litterally is having a crisis-meltdown because there is no PayNow button on the ad page. This particular auction, I did not offer the Vendio check-out because I needed to figure the shipping costs out AFTER the auction. So she is totally and completely at a loss. I want the PayNow option for those buyers, but I want it lower in the ad, so they don't see it unless they scroll down the page. Another user has posted that they inserted the HTML in the special payment instructions section of the global preferences. THAT'S where I want it to appear. I've done that in my ads tonight. Has there been any problems when the auction ends using this method? The other seller did not have a closed one to tell me the outcome, so I thought maybe you guys would be able to predict if all will be okay.

toyspast,

I'm sorry, I didn't understand that you want to insert the Pay Now button yourself.

First let me clarify, your buyers will still be able to pay via Paypal through your Vendio checkout regardless of whether a Pay Now button appears in your listing or not (as long as you have Paypal selected as an option in your Vendio prefs, which you do.)

If you do not want the Pay Now button to appear at the *top* of your ad, and you want to insert the button yourself using HTML in the body of your ad, you should leave your Vendio preferences set to "include the Paypal logo only". Now here's where it gets tricky - you can do either of the following:

1. Set your eBay preferences for "Tell my buyers that I prefer PayPal payments" and "Show Pay Now button for PayPal only". This option will display a PayPal logo on your listings, but it will also enable a Pay Now button when your listings close that will click through to Paypal.

2. Uncheck both Paypal preferences on eBay, and select the "Show Pay Now button for PayPal only" radio button. This will not enable a Pay Now button when your listings close, but there will also be no eBay reference to Paypal in your listings (you will have a logo in the body of your listing inserted by our system, however - and you can insert your own logo and text that indicates you accept Paypal.)

Option #2 would probably be best for you, because you want to place the Pay Now button in the body of your listings.

I hope this helps.

Sorry again for the confusion.

Diana

Hi, Diana:

I think I have it set up the way I want it. I believe I have set it up for option #1. I have a closed auction with the new settings, and it worked perfectly. I have the PayNow button in the Vendio payments display area, so it's low and is not the first thing the buyer would see. Now that that's straight, I would like to go back to another question I had regarding auctions showing up when buyers check "search for sellers that use paypal." What are the things that need to be done to be included in the search? I checked my auctions with the new set up, and it did not pick them up. Please let me know. Thanks for all your help!

Hello toyspast,

If you don't check one of the Paypal preferences on eBay your listings will not show up in a Paypal search - this is an eBay limitation. As long as you have checked one of the Paypal preferences your listings should show up in a Paypal search. Unfortunately this will also enable the Pay Now button at the top of your listing.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi, Diana:

I have in chose #1 - I checked "Show the PayNow button for Paypal only" and chose #2, I checked "Tell my buyers I prefer Paypal".

Is that supposed to include me in the paypal search? If it is, it's not working.

Second idea regarding the previous questions - does the buyer see something after the auction ends, that the seller and general public doesn't see? If so, is there a way to see what an auction looks like when it ends after choosing the above options? If you look at item #3148285316, does the buyer see only the PayNow button near the bottom part of the form under the Vendio Payment options, or do they also see it up in the top part of the form where the seller sees the light blue-highlighted area?

Ok, I am bumping this back up to the top, because I was out of town for a few days. I looked to see what I had checked in Global Preferences....I had box #2. If I am understanding you correctly, that should enable the Paypal Pay Now button in the auction and my items should show up within the Paypal search.

BUT THEY STILL DON'T!! I have to go back manually and revise each auction through Ebay if I want to show up in the Paypal searches.

Help me out here, folks! I know there must be a way to fix this!!!! I am still on my free 2 week trial of Vendio, and I want to sign up permanantly, but this problem will keep me from doing it....

Hi Toyspast,

You can see what it looks like here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/index_popup.html?sell=payment_preferences.html

Regarding PayPal search have you listed anything since selecting those preferences? You may need to edit your active listings to get them into the eBay PayPal search.

Hi Dwbster,

You need to go log in to your ebay account and go to My Ebay > Preferences > Update Payment Preferences and choose a Pay Now button preference AND a PayPal Preference. If you only have one checked off then the PayNow button won't show up. Once you do that, your new listings will contain the button.

Sonya

Hi, Sonya:

I may be wrong here, but i don't think you answered the other user's question. Her items are not showing up in the Paypal search function. I don't think she was asking about the PayNow button. I may be hallucinating, since I do tend to doze off when I'm trying to figure this all out.

To answer your questions regarding me - yes, I've tried searching for items after I set my preferences as you have indicated, and no, they do not show up in search. In the meantime, after seeing what my buyer is seing via the link you gave me, I do NOT want the PayNow button in the top of the ad as shown in that link. I have gone back to just the PayNow button displayed for paypal auctions only and no preferences checked underneath. I understand that for sure I won't be included in a paypal search. However, now, my question would be this: First - by doing that, I will eilimate the PayNow button showing at the top of the listing after it ends, correct? AND Will I have any problems with the manuel smart Paypal logo I'm including in my auctions under the Vendio payment instructions? That will change to a PayNow button after the auction ends, correct? I need to test it unless you know for sure how it will work.

Thank you toyspast! You are exactly correct. My issue has nothing to do with the Pay Now button. I simply want to be included in Ebay's Paypal search.

And to make matters worse, I just popped over to Sales Manager Pro to do a new "test" listing and it didn't work. What's up with that?????? I filled in all of the required areas, loaded a test picture, and when I went to preview it all that came up was a blank, all-white screen.

HELP VENDIO!!!!!!!

Hi Toyspast,

If you have no PayPal preferences checked, and Show PayNow button for PayPal only, you won't get the button. The smart logo should work.

Dwbster,

As long as you have 'show paynow button for Paypal only' in the PayNow button section, AND/OR 'offer paypal on all my listings' checked then your new listings you create after checking these off will include you in the search. We recommend you contact eBay to review your settings and make sure it's correct. You may need to edit active listings though to add the appropriate PayPal settings.

Regarding the Pro white screen issue -- please try rebooting your computer, and creating a new listing again.

Sonya

Ok, good news and bad news....the good news is: I just did a test auction and it appears that my Paypal problem is solved. YIPEE!!! Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2563384404

The BAD news is I still cannot access Sales Manager Pro even after rebooting the computer. I can fill in all of the blanks, add a photo, etc, but when I go to preview the page all I get is a white screen. What now??? I can access REGULAR Sales Manager through your web site (that is how I did the test auction) but Pro is a problem.

Thanks for sticking with me on this.....

Hello dwbster,

Is this your first time out using the Pro software, or had you been using this without error up till now?

The preview window does depend on whatever your default browser is to display properly, and you appear to be using IE6.0 - so it should work just fine.

Unfortunately, we haven't really ran into an error just like this before, so it will take a little more work to find what is unique about your setup that may be causing this.
If you have any other programs running while in the Sales Manager Pro software, try disabling them first, especially any antivirus or firewall programs.

Let us know the results of your efforts.

Nothing has changed that I know of...unless one of my "automatic virus updates" has caused this problem. If that is the case, what do I do to correct it???? Should I delete the Pro program and re-install????

By the way, one of the best features on Vendio so far has been the prompt response time to my questions!

Hello,

You could try uninstalling and reloading, but the error does not sound like something typical of software corruption if everything else is working correctly.

Try clicking on that 'Enlarged Preview' button just below the white preview window itself. See if you can somehow load this full preview window outside of the default that appears.
