I just noticed this "loading categories" progress bar in the first part of the auction creation process...it took almost 2 minutes to get the eBay categories loaded the first time. There was never any progress bar before, why does it show up now?
Many users have noticed that loading eBay categories takes much time. Some of them even gave up waiting... The new progress bar is actually only meant to provide "visual feedback" while loading the category tree.

I never had any time problems loading the categories...they were just listed in the box as soon as I clicked on the page. Now, I have to wait until they load. Is there a preference I can change to take it back the way it used to be for me?
Since eBay added attributes to many of their categories, this has increased the size of the category tree. Whenever they make a change to their categories we need to download a new category map, which is what takes so long. After the first initial download, it should not take so long - unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the size of the category tree on eBay.
