Hi,
I have downloaded and installed the new Image Publisher and followed the instructions but I am getting an error message when it tries to upload my selected images to Vendio.
It says "The Wizard could not connect to the Internet or the web service returned a Wizard page that is not valid."
Is my firewall causing this and if so what should I do?

Hello Pussyfoot,
Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet, and indeed check whether the firewall allows Windows Explorer (the program explorer.exe) to connect to the site www.vendio.com.

Radu,
I have altered the firewall so that it allows explorer.exe to access the internet and I have got as far as the wizard page where is says: Please wait whilst the Wizard downloads information about the service providers.
However, then nothing happens - I can tell that it is not downloading as my modem lights are not flashing. I have an always on fast internet connection and so it should not take long to download any info.
What to do?!

Hello Pussyfoot,
Indeed, if no service provider is listed (neither Vendio, nor MSN), the Image Publisher is still unable to connect to the Internet. If possible, please check the firewall logs to see if it is still blocking some of the traffic to Vendio.

Rady,
I am using Zone Alarm.
I diabled it completely and tried to upload but I do not see Vendio or MSN listed in the
choice of places to upload to. It just tells me it is downloading information about the service provider and gets no further!
The log files mean nothing to me..is there a source IP number that I should be looking for to check if it is being blocked?

I just thought - I also have a firewall set up through my ISP..shall I try disabling that too?

Hello Pussyfoot,
If ZoneAlarm was disabled and still no Internet traffic passes through, please check the settings on the other firewall. But, as traffic is regular http, it's a bit unlikely that the ISP's firewall is doing the blocking.
You might also want to restart your computer, stop ZoneAlarm immediately and try the Image Publisher again.

I switched and re-started and now finds that it all works fine even with Zone Alarm running.

Still can't get program to install - went through and deleted all vestiges. Tried downloading again and when hit program get installing and then nothing. Everytime hits get same thing - acts like installing but no more. Last time wrote said should be 296K - when downloaded I am getting a 290K. Is there some reason the other 6K which may be critical won't download? Thanks - looks like great concept. Rannie

290KB is indeed the size (more exactly, it is 296,960 bytes).
The installation process is quick, with no user prompt if all works fine. So, it's possible that the program has already installed correctly. You can check this with the 'Add or Remove Programs' functionality in Control Panel.
Once the program has installed, you can proceed with uploading images.
Using Windows Explorer, open the folder holding the images and make sure that the File and Folder Tasks box is visible. To do this, you might need to close the overlapping left Explorer Bar, either by clicking the small X in its upper right corner, or by opening the menu entry View > Explorer Bar and unchecking all entries.
Then, select the images and click "Publish this file to the web" in the Folder Tasks box. You can also select nothing (or select the full folder), and click "Publish this folder to the web".
