Hi. Even though my image was attached in the SmPro preview, when one of my auctions launched to ebay there were no images--either the main image centered in the Vendio template or my first image as the preview image for Ebay up in the ebay section near the bid. I have use one image per listing with a centered and split layout.

I have been able to access the vendio html at ebay and successfully add the image back into its proper place in the template. How do I access the html of the preview section in the ebay upper section to add in my preview image html for the upper left corner (I do not need an image in the ebay gallery)? I beieve I have isolated the html code section that needs to be revised from viewing the source code in one of my other active auctions, but I don't know how to access it to fix it. (Item #3272155803) How does vendio submit that code?
Thanks.

Hi there,

We actually just submit a URL for that section, as it's part of the eBay page (our HTML is inserted in the description field only.) If you want the image inserted there, please contact eBay as they will need to help you with that.

Let us know if this happens again, I'm not sure why your listing would have been submitted without the image.

Thanks,

Diana

Thanks, Diana. Not the answer I was hoping to hear, but the reply is still much appreciated.

I went back and reviewed the SmPro batch, and there is no image attached there either. So whatever the problem was I probably somehow did it to myself while fiddling around with the listing after the first preview and before upload sync, and unfortunately I also got sloppy about rechecking every single one in the pending status which I usually do before they launch. At least I didn't get sloppy with the post launch check and found it.

I know vendio does not really have any responsibility for ebay's stuff, but when we need to fix things at ebay, not all of us know how to do that really well. Many of the "you-have-to-fix-that-at-ebay" answers on the boards are for recurring things like listing images, preview images, and gallery images. At least I was able to get myself together and figure out a way to fix it for my main template image. But if I hadn't known about pulling active auction source code and had the experience of running embedded images with vendio listings previously, I'm not sure I could have done it--and I wouldn't have known where to go at ebay either.

In the future, would it be possible for someone in customer service to post a quick summary of where to go and what to look for and what we need to fix at ebay if we find ourselves in a mess after launching with vendio?--especially for post launch image problems. I know you can't help us directly, but that information might help us fix our mistakes and save an auction. If I find out from ebay how to add preview images back in, I'll post the info.

Thanks again!

Hi. I case anyone else ever asks what I asked here is the answer and the solution:

If an image is accidentally not attached or gets left off before launch, Vendio uploads a clear 1 pixel .gif to ebay in its place. Adding the html into the listing pulls the image to wherever you add/place the image source in the listing, but has no effect on the preview pic. The section of html that has to be revised is locked and unavailable to users.

There is an "image box" on the revise your item form that indicates the image ebay is using to do the preview. It does not switch to using your newly added .jpg code because it is already occupied by Vendio's uploaded clear 1 pixel .gif instead. The tiny i mm empty square "image preview" in the display pictures box is very small and easily missed. Simply erase the image code with the "clear.gif" vendio image code and replace it with your own vendio image code plus the name and .jpg, and ebay will use that to create the preview. You cannot just use the code that is there and change the name of the clear.gif to your vendio imagename.jpg--it has to be the whole code used to import from vendio as an outside image host.

If there are bids or the auction ends within 12 hours, however, the only way to fix it is cancel the listing and relaunch because in those 2 cases ebay prohibits revising your item and there is no other way to do it besides the revise your item form.

Hello,

Most things can be resolved through the 'revise' link on the actual auction. If you have specific things you'd like to have a quick answer for, please feel free to post them and we will post the appropriate links on how to do them on eBay.

Regards,

Sonya

Hello Sonya. I did ask something very specific, and there was no help. I was just sent packing off to ebay to flounder around by myself for days. I finally posted for others' benefit what one of you should have posted for me. If there are all these links and all this help available for the asking, you or one of the "we" should have posted it here. Regarding your subsequent email to me that doesn't appear here, no--I didn't misunderstand your post. In its context your post speaks very clearly for itself, unfortunately.

I suggested in my response to Diana above that there is a need for vendio to publish, in essence, some sort of FAQs or tutorials for those of us who are just told to go to ebay and fix our own problems. I kow you are not ebay employees, but at very least you should take all this "help" that I didn't get and that was supposedly available in your last post, and make it available to the whole vendio community.

The vendio boards are littered with people asking for help with image problems in their already launched auctions--main images, preview images, gallery images, wrong images, no images. If all this info is available, where is it?--and where was it for this thread? A good tutorial on how to rectify vendio launch problems at ebay would save dozens of customer support questions. It might make your job easier too.
