I keep getting this error message

Error 5028: Invalid Value. (17:45)
Value given for "Country/Region" is invalid.
Note: this error may be related to the Item Specifics content you entered. Please review content in 'other' fields in the Item Specifics section for validity and number of characters.

What does this mean?

Hi there,

Error 5028 generally results from data in an item specifics field not being recognized by the eBay API. If you are selecting a region in these listings, please try the " - " option instead. If your listings continue to error out when you use this value, please let us know.

Thanks,

Diana

I can't seem to find the problem. I never changed anything I don't know why they wouldn't list. Any help would be great

Hello,

There has been an update of eBay Item Specifics for the categories you are listing in, and there are now new options for Country/Region. Please edit the inventory items and launch them again.

Thanks,

Vendio

I had the same problem.

I tried to launch an auction and I got the same error message as above.

I then went into my pending auction I tried to list and it said "error" next to it.

After I opened and went into the auction to edit it there was nothing highlighted that showed me what needed to be changed so I went to the bottom of the listing and hit the "launch now" button and the auction did indeed launch.

Can you please explain what is going on here?

I have over 2000 items in my inventory and the idea of re-editing them all is ridiculous. Especially when I have no idea of what needs to be changed since the auction launched after I opened it.

Please let me know what EXACTLY needs to be done and what is going on

Thanks

Hello,

The problem is related to Country/Region in Item Specifics: instead of the old value "North America", you have now 2 distinct choices for "US" and "Canada". The change only effects listings under Photo Images; Prints, Paintings...; Sculpture.

As Country/Region is not a required Item Specific entry, the obsolete value is ignored and the field is not highlighted when editing listings.

Thanks,

-Radu

I went into my inventory and looked at my ebay site specifics. My auctions have "-" selected. It doesn't specify anything but the blank space. So I still don't understand why they won't launch. Is their any simple solution to rectify this or do I have to choose a region for every auction in my inventory before launch? This will take forever to fix. I chose to launch with Vendio over other auction management programs because you guys made it easy. This is basically starting from scratch if I have to fix every auction in my inventory. Please help!!!

Hello,

Due to type of change that eBay made, unfortunately you do have to edit each inventory item as you want to relist it. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Sonya

I still dont understand why?

there is nothing to edit...none of the auctions have the region area filled out.

What needs to be changed in my inventory?

Please see this thread.

so everytime from now on that I want to launch an auction I have to have it come up error and then open it open it up and re-launch it?

that makes no sense at all.

If the region area is not selected in my auctions why is this happening.

if the auction can launch from pending when I open it from error, why wouldnt it launch regulerly?

Can you guys please help figure this out.

Sonya says i have to re-edit my auctions and Christopher says it will be fixed on your end.

There is no way I can re-edit over 2000 auctions..I am losing $$ and time over this.

Couldn't a program be written to solve this?

I just launched several new listings from this Category (20125). I left the field blank, I left the '-', and I even selected "US" and all these listings went through.

The new functionality is working correctly. We appologize for the older relisted items that are having difficulty listing. Contact Ebay as to why the change occured at : http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-support.html

I am even more confused now then before.

First of all the catagory that we were talking about is 14280.

I do not have region selected in any of my 2000 auctions..why the error?

Second, I still can't understand why I launch an item from inventory....it comes up error...then all I do is open up the auction with the error and then launch it from there it and it works perfectly fine.

I spent almost 2 hours listing 100 auctions last night..this is insane.

This doesn't seem like a problem with eBay.
Why does it launch upon opening it in pending auctions and listing it from there.

I need more direction here.

I am totally lost

I emailed ebay as you mentioned in your previous email.

Since Vendio is a 3rd party software, ebay can offer no help on it... they gather from what I told them that it has to be on Vendio's end...not eBays.

Can you please check further into this.

I still dont know why I can list the auctions thru "pending" after only opening the error auction and and not even making any changes to the auction.

This problem has to be on your end.

Janarca, I feel your pain. This is absolutely nothing but a time consuming hassle. It's makes not an once of sense why this is doing this, but it is defintely on Vendio's side. Just like you said. Your first attempt to launch from inventory is a failure. I click on the auction. I don't change a thing and it goes right thru. It's ridiculous and a waste of time. Vendio has to fix this!!

Hello,

As mentioned in an earlier post, the reason for the error is eBay's recent change of giving you the option of US or Canada rather than just North America, for the Country/Region field in eBay site specifics. We apologize for any confusion. Since site specifics in inventory must be edited for each individual auction, there is no other option other than to edit each one when you get this error. Per the other thread on this issue I have forwarded your comments to engineering on the difficulty of this task.

Regards,

Sonya
