Hi. I had to cancel an auction due to the winners non response and non payment. I have written the runner-up bidder and asked if they would still be interested in purchasing the item. The bids were only different by a penny.

What is the best way to handle the vendio checkout for this so I can check the new buyer out through my usual postsale process? [For instance, would it work to copy the auction, archive the original, uncheck all the steps on the copy, edit/change the copy's checkout for the new bidder's ebay ID (can I do that?--I don't have the name, address etc), then send them through the new edited checkout with their ID on it?] I could then adjust off the penny difference as a credit. Would all of that work if I tried it, or is there an easier faster way?

Also, Paypal won't have this bidder's ID listed as the winner of this item number. If they paid at paypal directly to my vendio address as some other kind of goods, would postsale pick up on the id and track it in? How do folks best work with all this for second chance offers?

Thanks!

The best thing to do is click on the post sale keys. This will take you to the fullfillment page. In this area you can see the current winning bidder's email address and next to it an edit link. Click the edit link. In here you can change the winning bidder to a new user and also the amount of the auction.

You will need the users name, email and their bid amount.

Thanks Darin. Since I asked the question, I have learned that there is a specific form ebay uses for a seller to present a second chance offer. How does the vendio checkout integrate with that feature? For instance, if the bidder accepts, does that effectively generate a new/another auction with a new closing bid, new ID etc that is picked up or can be tracked into vendio checkout and post sale as a separate transaction? Thanks.

I use the "Track other Listings" tool in Sales Manager to import the 2nd chance offer into Vendio. It works best if you do it just after sending the offer instead of after the buyer has accepted. The downside (beyond the manual labor) is that shipping (carrier and cost) info isn't imported, and inventory quantity isn't reduced.

Thanks ferretbee! I've never used the 'track in other listings' tool so I trust it will be fairly intuitive. I offer items inclusive of shipping and manage all my own inventory outside of vendio so neither of those will add extra work. What do you do if they don't take it--just archive that like a new "auction", send out the form again and keep tracking the forms in for the next bidder til someone takes it?

"Track Other Listings" is very easy to use once you find it. It's under the "Sales Manager" tab in the middle of the blue tab bar near the top of page.

If the bidder doesn't accept it will move to Closed as unsold and can be archived manually or automatically.

To send an offer to the next under-bidder you repeat the process.

Officially we aren't offering the second chance feature right now. We are looking at integrating with Ebay, a smooth and reliable way to bring this feature to Vendio.

In the meantime, you'll need to do work around for the occasional items that lose the bidder.

Hi again. Well, I sent the second chance offer out and archived the original auction. The only auction the tracking tool will track in, however, is the original auction, not the second chance offer. I have a copy of the second chance offer in my CM inbox. The instructions to the buyer are to click on the Buy It Now link in that email. How do I get the buyer to my checkout instead, and how do I manage the new sale from post sale? The way it is set up now, if I send a wbn it will go to the original buyer--not the second chance buyer, and the item price is wrong also. Thanks.

Did you use the new item number eBay generated to track the 2nd chance offer?

You definitely can't use the same listing ID number as the original. This will only track in the original listing and not the new one.

Hi. There was no new number indicated on any of the ebay paperwork on the confirmation or submit screens, so I didn't know to expect one. Fortunately I did keep the box checked to send a copy of the offer to myself and the ebay checkout link given to the customer has a different number in it. That one tracked in as an active unclosed auction just fine, and apparently will work just like a regular auction with a WBN going out when it closes in post sale etc.
This was my first time to do this. Sorry I had to write more than once to figure it out.
Thanks All!!!!!
