I was successful in following ohanastyle's instructions on page 2 of the thread started by debshope and it solved the problem for the moment. However, as soon as I again saved temp internet files it went back to the same problem and I had to again clear that file. I don't know what the long term solution is....!

Hey there Marla... see another NEW user has our same problem!! I wrote ebay and NORTON to see if they have any permanent things we may try. Obviously the problem is here to stay... so unless someone can tell me how to make it stay permanantly "fixed" .. I am going back to andale also. I don't have this kind of "time" as its hard enough to get my items, researched, photographed, and listed.
Remember.. we do have other options. I love vendio.. and they have always had great customer service here.. but lately.. well .. you see.. Geesh! I don't think anybody is really "caring" about our little problem. Even though it is intermittant, we still shouldn't have to keep trying all these "temporary fixes"... do you also have Norton and running IE with XP? Deb

Hi Deb,

Yes, I have Norton and am running with IE XP and ohanastyle's suggested fix worked, but then had to go back and do it again the next time to delete temp internet files that accumulated since the day before. I don't use ebay's tool bar so don't think that has anything to do with it. I agree that Vendio should be able to fix the problem and it shouldn't be up to the user to have to turn cartwheels everytime to list items. I finally manually entered the numbers for a few items before I tried ohanastyle's fix but think I had better check them after they go on to see if the category is right. If it worked okay before can't see why it won't work now. Maybe tomorrow things will be better and someone (Vendio) will come up with a permanent fix..I hope. I have been satisfied with Vendio so hopefully all will work out and we won't have to tear our hair out everytime we list items.

Hello,

I understand that you had to clear your browser's cache repeatedly in order to use the eBay category chooser.

Please try the following procedure:
1. On Internet Explorer's "Tools" menu, click "Internet Options...".
2. In the "Temporary Internet Files" frame, click "Delete Files", check "Delete all offline content" and then click OK.
3. Click "Settings".
4. Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages", click "Every time you start Internet Explorer".
5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
6. Quit and then restart Internet Explorer.

Please let us know if:
- the category page works after going through the above steps
- if it stops working later, when did this happen (when restarting Internet Explorer, after 1 day, or did it stop suddenly?).

Thanks,

-Radu

Good morning Radu,

1. When I started computer this morning, category pull-down tab not working. It seemed to try to load...circles would darken one at a time, but after that was complete no category pull-down tab, just a zero by the number space.

2. Went through your suggested steps without disabling Norton...did not work

3. Went through your suggested steps again with Norton disabled..did not work

4. Went back..disabled Norton..cleaned temp internet files and then it worked.

5. It doesn't stop in the middle of entering items (at least for me), only when re-starting computer and there is info once again in "temp files".

Well, I am back! For two days I have been trying to get the category pull down to work and no success. It worked for a few days and is gone again. I have also tried everything mentioned and it just doesn't work anymore.
I am assuming there are no solutions to this matter. I have been with Vendio for a very long time, yet it appears the fun is coming to an end. I can't even enter the categories by typing them in. Sorry Vendio, but this has been the most frustrating thing in a long time. I will continue to hope there is a solution, but in the meantime, I suppose I have to find a new service, which I hate.
Thanks.

Hello,

Please let us know what the page looks like after loading:

- do you see the "Category | Top Category" drop-down? is it active?
- do you see the category # box next to it? is there any value in the box?
- do you see the 5 category lists underneath? are they active, can you click on them and select a line (even if it is the empty line)?

If possible, please send me a screen shot of the page; please email it directly at [email protected].

Thanks,

-Radu

Radu,

Drop-down is still working on category page for me. I shut the computer down, re-started it again and it seems to still be working even with info in the temp internet files. Perhaps your previous instructions to change the settings box to check "everytime you start" did work??? If it goes back to not working will copy the page and email it to you.

Hi everyone. I am back again. When I tried to list this morning it wouldn't work again. Did all the usual steps - the ones from the other thread from last week. Wouldn't work. Did check the "Everytime you start Internet Explorer". It worked for now. But I had gotten it to work before with the other instructions. So we'll see if this holds.

Well and all day event, but I have it working again. Not sure how long it will last! I just repeated all the steps that have been mentioned and finally it kicked in.

Moved to top because I see other people are having the problem we were dealing with last week. By the way every time I shut down my computer when I sign back on I have to go through the steps to fix the problem again. Is there going to be a permanent fix for this?

Hi Marla.. Mommoo.. and Weddingsister!
... just stopping in to say my problem still hasn't changed either...

Vendio has installed a catagory "test" page.. go 'try' it and see if it works for you. It failed for me..
Also.. let me know when you open the "window" of the test page.. if it says "Welcome, tzepesh" at the top where it should say "Welcome, with-your-user-id" ... don't know if this is suppose to be like this as it IS a "test" .. maybe it is?
Anyway, I ran the test, it failed and I wrote customer support to let them know. I too am starting to research other venues of auction manager sites... and would just hate to close my account, but I just don't have the time to keep trying all the "quick fixes".

Let me know if the "TEST" PAGE works for you... Love, DEB
