Hello,

eBay has recently made some updates, which may affect your ability to view the category tree. Please note the following:

1. eBay has updated their toolbar, and they recommend that in order to restore access to the category tree that you uninstall and then reinstall the toolbar. To uninstall, you may use the Add/Remove programs wizard in Windows. Once uninstalled, go to eBay and click Site Map. Scroll to the bottom and on the left you will see eBay Toolbar. Click to download, and once it is downloaded completely, turn off your computer and then restart it.

2. The problem may also be related to recent changes that eBay made to their category map. Every time eBay updates their category map, we must also update the map on our site. This means that the first time a user visits the category page after an update, we must fetch the new map. Since the category map is fairly large, the time to fetch this page the first time after a category update is noticeably longer than normal. We have added a progress bar, so you should see that an update is taking place.

Note that the update process can take several minutes. Please allow time for the map to update before exiting the page. After the map has been updated, time to access the category page should return to normal.

Unfortunately, there are certain ISPs or proxy networks that may time out when fetching this large page. If this happens, please try restarting your system, and/or use a different dialup number to access the internet.

3. If neither suggestion above helps, please make sure that you have installed the latest Windows and Internet Explorer updates. Also, when trying again, please disable any programs that might interfere with the page load (such as firewalls or ad filtering software.) Then, press ctrl + F5 on your keyboard and let the page load.

After taking the above steps, if the category chooser is still not working properly, please write back with a detailed description of what is happening on the page.

Regards,

Sonya
