Does anyone else out there have problems launching eBay auctions and Vendio Store items, using WEBTV (or MSNTV)? I cannot get the "enter category" page to accept the category number in the box and keep it there until I move the curser down the page to "continue". As soon as I move down, the category number immediately disappears! This only became a problem last week when Vendio shut down two nights for maintenance and "enhancements".

There must be some way Vendio can consult with Microsoft to make WEBTV (MSNTV) and Vendio compatable! Every time Vendio "enhances" their services, it seems to cause us WEBTV users new launching problems that Vendio says they cannot fix because "Vendio does not support WEBTV platform". Microsoft is currently testing a new revised and improved set-top box. This would be the ideal time for Vendio and Microsoft to get together to correct compatability problems. HELP !!

Hello blarneystones,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with this...

Unfortunately, because WebTV is built on outdated and/or atypical browser technology, we cannot support the platform. Hopefully after MSN pushes the updates to their system, you will have more success using our system with WebTV.

Thanks,

Diana

Blarneystones hang in there! This same problem happened about a month ago, when Vendio did an update. They fixed it, and I have been able to insert the catagory numbers until the last few days, on both of my ID's. If all goes well, it will be fixed again! I have been on Vendio and AW since 1999, and they have always fixed the problems in the end. Happy holidays to all.

Thank you for your sympathy and support. I received an email today from "Mike", with a suggested fix that works (at least for me). Here it is: "At create listing page, click on grey box to left of Cat.# box. Go down scroll list and click on the second null>, then go to the first 2 large grey Cat. fields and click to show 2nd null>, then enter your Cat.#. It should hold when you go to continue. If not, play around with these features until you find the fields that work for you. It's a pain at first, but when you find the answer, it will continue to work." Hopefully, we can use this until Vendio can find a permanent fix,(assuming they are looking for one).

Diana claims that Vendio cannot support the "WebTv platform", yet EVERY OTHER FIELD, ON EVERY OTHER PAGE in "Sales Manager" WILL accept commands from the WebTv keyboard. Just WHAT is the state-of-the-art super-technology that Vendio employs ONLY on the "Choose Category" page? Now, I'm no rocket scientist, but it seems to me that if ALL OF THOSE OTHER FIELDS WORK, THEN THE "CHOOSE CATEGORY" FIELD SHOULD WORK, ALSO !!!!

Just because I CHOOSE to use WebTv does NOT make me a moron, as those in Vendio "Customer Service" (what a joke!) seem to think. Although it IS a very basic system, it is still the equivalent of Internet Explorer 4.0, which I'm certain is still in use elsewhere.

Frankly, I'm grown weary of the pervasive condescention from those at Vendio, and would gladly move my business elsewhere. Can anyone here recommend a WebTv friendly site ?

Tim

DrDementia, I also have used a Webtv box since 1999, have tried Inkfrog, Ranchoweb, eBay`s site, all too labor intensive with all the cut & paste & jumping through hoops. Vendio, despite all it`s changes and ignoring Webtv`rs needs, is still the best platform for launching my junk out into the net. It would be nice if Vendio would actually read the posts on it`s own site to try to help it`s customers, many helpful tips & fixes displayed on Sales Manager & eBay Outlook, instead of pat answers about not supporting this platform. I`ve looked everywhere, this is the only site that works, although a search feature at Community would really help! Mike

Forgive me, Mike, but I'm having a hard time with following your logic....
How could a site that is UNUSABLE be considered as "the best platform"? (Are you actually a Vendio techie posting to this thread under a pseudonym? ;-o ) If I can't create new auctions, then Vendio has become useless to me, and doesn't deserve to have my business.

I've tired of trying to deal with the "Customer Service" department, and asked to be put in touch with someone in a higher managerial position, but it has now become clear to me that noone at Vendio really even cares. They probably suffer (as does eBay) from the dreaded "NEVER admit that ANYTHING is wrong on our site, or our stock price will plummet!" syndrome.
If ANYONE can explain to me how the ENTIRE site (including THIS field!) works with WebTv, but the one field that is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY doesn't, then I'll gladly shut up and go away .....

"Internet Explorer 4.0, which I'm certain is still in use elsewhere."

heh, right, maybe if someone was still running windows 3.1, or you visited a computer school in kirkmanikstan.

microsoft themselves dont even support IE4.0 anymore, it was hands down their most seriousley flawed version of IE to date.

To the dear aptly named DrDementia, No, I`m not a techie of any kind, if you read any of these posts, you will see that, after much trial and error, I found a cure for the disappearing category numbers which I posted for all to use; see blarneystones posts. There is no point in ranting at Vendio CS, they don`t care if all of us Webtv`rs disappear completely, that`s why when there seems to be an unsolvable problem using Webtv`s format, I only hope that by playing around Vendio`s site, one of us will find a fix and post it for all to see. Every roadblock and apparent firewall that Vendio puts up to make listing impossible for Webtv`rs seems to have a solution if one just tries, as opposed to just crying about it. If we Webtv`rs stick together, actively try to help each other, we should be able to continue using Vendio for a long time, a least till MSN phases us out of existence completely. Mike

Vintage4U,

With your infinite wisdom perhaps you can explain to me WHY, if MS doesn't support IE 4.0, they saw fit to purchase WebTv from it's originators for quite a large sum of money some years back? (it is now called MSN.TV; that stands for MICROSOFT NETWORK.TV, just so's you know)

You are no different than the techies at Vendio, who prefer to heap scorn upon the operating system, rather than find a solution to the problem. WebTv functions perfectly well on 99.9% of the sites I've visited on the Internet. (and there are a LOT of them!) In the six years I've had WebTv, I've NEVER run into a self-erasing field, except at VENDIO.

I am still waiting to hear from ANYONE (Vendio techie or average-Joe; I don't care) how every other field, in the entire "Sales Manager" area can function as they always have, EXCEPT for the category number field?

Tim

MGM,

I've tried EVERY "workaround", in EVERY post regarding this problem. NONE of them will allow me to place a number into the field.

I'm not crying about it, just telling it like it is.....................
