$2.95 a month for up to 100 images sounds good to me. If I were to sign up now and not list anything for a week or two, when does my "month" begin? When I sign up, or when I start listing again? Are we billed on a calendar month or by sign-up date?

The first monthly charge for Gallery is incurred at your sign-up date, and is incurred regardless of your listing activity. However, you are credited a pro-rated amount for Gallery on your next regular billing cycle date, to synchronize your Gallery subscription with your regular billing day.
So, for example, if you were to sign up on May 15th for Gallery, and your next billing cycle date is May 30th, you would be charged $2.95 on May 15th, then only $1.48 on May 30th. After that, your charges for Gallery would occur on your regular billing day as usual.
