There have been similar threads to this one from time to time over the years but Vendio (AW) never has provided any concrete answer to this issue.
It is absurd for the customer to have to calculate their sales tax. It should be added automatically based on a percentage which the seller defines based on the STATE field of the shipping address.
The programming required is minimal as it is only a simple string. With great frequency my customers either omit the sales tax although my instructions are precise or set the wrong amount or in many cases apply tax where none is due.
This creates more work for me and in the case of minimal amounts it is not worth pursuing.
This is the only checkout I have ever come across that requires buyer participation in terms of sales tax.
It is unprofessional and the furthest thing from an elegant interface I have ever seen.
I would wish Vendio to add this most basic feature and encourage any like minded users to make it known that they too feel this to be a neccesary function of the checkout.

Couldn't have said this better myself!! I am in complete agreement. My customers are apparently having problems with this feature also. I get my state residents paying no sales tax, others who shouldn't be paying sales tax AT ALL, are paying from 2% to 50%. I then have to partially refund those payments.

Sonya, with all due respect. Your answer is how this thread has passed into oblivian in the past. It is not good enough. When I visit the local supermarket they don't ask me to set the tax rate, the current application is not sufficient.

I understand your frustration with not having the sales tax section changed. My response is not a dismissive action, I want you to know that I personally log all these requests so that your feedback is heard. We understand that the current set up is not up to par, and I am doing all that I can to communicate your want and need for a better tax feature.

I simply changed my Vendio Checkout button to read ---- Do not use Vendio Checkout unless you have some aspirin handy. Please use ebay checkout.
I've got it in all my auctions and it works great!

I've been considering that approach but eBay does not support my Vendio Store and I am trying to avoid the hassle of moving.
