Why can’t I list to these categories in SM and SM pro? I have synced etc.
When you synch, the new categories will download -- however to get them active in your Pro, you have to quit and restart Pro after performing the synch. Your new categories should then appear.
Let us know if you have any more trouble with this.
When you synched and restarted Pro, did the categories update? I could not tell from your answer if they did or not.
I noticed you are an AOL customer. We have introduced a new category selector that speeds up the process of selecting your desired listing category when using Sales Manager online. We have also added your most recently used 10 categories to a selection list above the general category tree to speed up your listing process even further.
To enable proper operation, AOL/CompuServe users may need to force a page reload (by holding CRTL and clicking on the Refresh icon in the AOL browser) or clear their local internet cache (Preferences -> Internet -> Temporary Internet Files -> Delete files). If neither works or you otherwise have difficulty, we also enable you to switch to the older category selector if necessary (look for this link under the category menu.) If this doesn't help, you may also be able to work around the issue by entering the category number instead of using the menu selector. Please let us know if you continue to have trouble.
When I synced the first time the categories reloaded. Then I restarted SM Pro as it says-and it still does not list the categories.
I tried the older version of SM and it also does not list any of the sub-categories under books>non-fiction. (just like SM Pro)
I have tried it from two machines at two different locations.
While I use AOL for email, I use IE 6.0 for browsing.
Your work-around of entering the category number does not work. SM and SM pro require a valid category number. Have you tried this?
Can you explain how the category database could be goofed up in both SM and SM Pro without it being on your end? Is the category database for SM stored on my computer?

Hello John,
eBay is updating the category structure every month. The structure under the Books top level category has changed twice in the past few months. Many of the old categories have been removed, and were replaced with Item Specifics.
There is a description of the current category structure on this eBay page:
http://pages.ebay.com/categorychanges/books.html
It is just slightly outdated, as a separate category for Fiction Books has been created in July.
