I downloaded and installed three security patches last night. Since doing so, I have not been able to access vendio through my IE. I can access every other website that I've tried EXCEPT for Vendio. I deleted out the updates and still cannot access it. I also tried to put on another patch that was supposed to correct, and I still cannot access vendio through IE. (I am accessing it through AOL right now.) I tried overwriting IE 6 in the hopes that it would resolve the problem, but that didn't work either. I even added vendio to my trusted sites list, but I still cannot access it. Please help. If I run AOL on my computer, I cannot run other programs, so I can't upload pictures to my auctions.

Same thing happened to me. My computer genius has been here for 5 hrs. My daughter visited me and logged into AOL to get her mail. somehow she changed the settings and bingo, this morning I couldn't get into Vendio, no how, no way. Albert tried everything and when I told him about the AOL he called Bellsouth and together they worked it out. I have no idea what they did, but I have it back. I am so thankful as he was going to take everything out and start over. EEEEEKKKKK

I need to know more about the changes/updates you've made to your computer or browser. We haven't changed anything on our end to cause any problems so we'll have to work out what's different from your side. Please fill us in with specific details. Thanks!
Best Regards,

Darin -- This is what I installed:

Security Update for Windows 98 KB840315

Critical Update for ADODB.stream KB870669

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Pack 1 KB867801

It's interesting to note that when I opened my IE and went into Ebay to check my auctions, it wasn't showing ANY pictures or graphics. (I launch exclusively through Vendio.) However, when I went back to AOL and opened ebay and checked my auctions, the pictures and graphics are fine. Please refer to my first posting to see exactly what I have done so far to correct this extremely aggravating problem. Thank you.

Hi Niel and Bizzy, and anyone else with this problem!
I've also had an absolute painof a time all week using Vendio, with IE 6.0, windows 98 !!
I haven't installed any patches or un-installed anything.
However, I was playing "free-cell", which came installed on my computer, and suddenly it performed an "illegal operation" and froze the whole thing. (I did not have Vendio open at the time.) This freezing happened several times, in several other programs, and I now can't use that free-cell program.

Since then, Vendio's been nigh impossible to keep going! It keeps displaying "Error, page cannot be displayed, cannot find server" even when I'm still connected. (I can go to other sites O.K.) Before anyone asks..I clear my cache etc. before attemting any listing from here!

Here's what happens in Vendio when I'm trying to manually launch auctions.
1) Template previews- can view once, then whole screen freezes if I select another for preview: result-lost work!

2)I can read the message boards, ( to see if anyone else is having these problems!) but go betweenforums only once, then "page cannot be displayed, cannot find server" etc. and I cannot get back into Auction manager!!
I have to go to my favorites and re-log-in every time after this!

3) I get to almost the end of the listing, then "page cannot be..." etc. If I'm really lucky, and the whole computer doesn't freeze up, I can try various ways to get back in, and if I'm really lucky, one will work, and I retrieve my incomplete auction from "pending". Several times, I get to "launch" or "schedule" and.......same old same old!

4)If I foolishly try "refresh", the whole thing may freeze, meaning re-boot, and therefore no saving, copying and pasting..it's lost work!

5)Today, all went just Ducky, until I tried to select images...got red x's. So I copied my description text, and clicked "save", although I still got the "page cannot" etc. and after logging into the home-page yet again, found the listing intact in 'pending'. Launched OK, with images, but this is SO LABORIOUS!!

It seems more-than-a-little co-incidental that several people here are experiencing similar accessing difficulties with windows 98, IE 6.0, and WebTV (can't blame it all on webTV this time!)

I can't always get into Vendio either. Sometimes get a blank screen that tells me "done" at the bottom, or "cannot find server" or "cannot be displayed". It doesn't remember my password either!

Someone very powerful must have been praying for my computer, because suddenly Vendio did come on for me, when my husband accessed it on my machine.

All day I wasn't able to access Vendio; I use Netscape. I hadn't installed any critical updates or done anything odd in several days, so it was a complete mystery.

I could access it through my husband's machine, Netscape user also, just not mine. Now I'm afraid it'll happen again.

Vendio was down all afternoon. None of the pictures were showing in any of my auctions and the mailstep emails weren't going through.
SMP wouldn't connect either so I wasn't able to sync the auctions I had ready to go.

Here is some advice from my computer guy, "Tell those other people to reset their Internet Explorer and then reset the modem. If that won't do it tell them to go into new accounts create a new user and that should do it."

Hi,

Same here but I installed nothing new and the system did not freeze in any other program. I run XP and have had no problems since the nightmare with SPM6.0

We just got a consignor with high end items. We convinced him that we use Vendio because of the load time for photos. Then he goes into look at the auctions and no photos. Not a happy camper. We will be lucky to keep him. The other person listing for him from Turbo Lister was having no problems.

The most frustrating part was - if it was only one component of the program - we can at least come here to see what is going on. But when it is the entire site - an email as to the status would have been greatly appreciated. We have gotten used to expecting system problems with each new feature but this is getting a little old.

Hi everybody,

It appears that the problems some of you experienced yesterday accessing our website may have been caused in part by scheduled maintenance that was done by one of our network providers. Apparently, the maintenance that was performed triggered unexpected side-effects that were outside the realm of our system's ability to detect (we were not alerted to the problem as we would have been under normal circumstances. ) We do apologize for any inconvenience.

This problem was corrected as of about 7 pm on Sunday. You should no longer be having trouble accessing our site, so if you continue to have trouble please try clearing your browser cache and restarting your computer.

Thanks,

Diana

Diana,

Could you please let us know when maintenance is being performed? I checked the announcements but nothing was said there. I was going absolutely crazy yesterday trying to fix a problem that, unbeknowest to me, was unfixable on my end. I spent hours on it trying to correct the problem when a simple announcement on Vendio's part would have saved ALOT of us time and aggravation.

Hello bizzycrocheting,

I understand your request, but system maintenance is done all the time (this was not Vendio maintenance) - it would be nearly impossible to announce every maintenance session performed by third-party companies that may affect our system. Also note that this was an unusual event.

As it was, it appears to have only affected a percentage of users. Oddly enough, most of the users reporting the problem are IE / Win 98 (and mostly AOL/MSN users), so the problem may have been compounded by a recent IE security patch.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi Diana,

Yes, the issue was only with some of us but that does not diminish the gravity of the issue for us. Vendio's feeling of indifference is more disturbing than the actual problem. It did happen on your watch and with your clients. Please do not assess the problem according to the number affected - even a few clients having problems obviously is a problem for them -- and you.

There must be more Vendio users who still can't get on and have no access to another machine to send you a message. I hope you've given a good scolding to your network provider so this doesn't happen again. A friend of mine just signed up on Vendio and now is so turned off she'll probably drop the service. I told her this has never happened before (at least to me!), but now she's skittish about counting on you folks. Really, we oldtimers love you--but we're now scared this will happen again.
