I'd like some clarification on a message friends received stating "this is a notification message to inform that your eBay authorization token stored at Vendio will expire soon."
I concurred with them to contact Vendio directly before processing anything through a link in an e-mail.
Vendio's response has me puzzled since I've never heard of an authorization token and wonder why they have received a notice and others of us haven't.
Vendio response--quote: "If the token expires, Vendio will no longer be able to do *any* action at
eBay on your behalf (example: launching your listings from Vendio to eBay or
inserting your Vendio Gallery in listings will no longer be possible). To
prevent this from happening, please follow these simple steps: (deleted for brevity)
"On the off chance someone attempts to replicate one or more Vendio pages,
you may desire to surf the Vendio site a while to ensure your content
appears as you would normally see it (the individual specific information
that would be very difficult to replicate) prior to going to the eBay
account update pages.
"Below are detailed the actions that will *no* longer be possible if your
eBay authorization token expires at Vendio:
- launching your items to eBay or eBay Motors;
- updating or closing your eBay or eBay Motors items at Vendio;
- sending feedback for your Vendio items at eBay or eBay Motors;
- refreshing and updating your Vendio Gallery items;
- inserting Vendio Gallery in your eBay listings;
To prevent this, please follow the steps above to update your authorization
token.
Thank you!
Your Vendio Team
I want to know the authenticity of these direct emails to Vendio, what is an Authorization Token, and who and how often these notices of expriation go out?

eBay authorization tokens expire annually, so you will need to update the token on our website once per year. We will send you an email letting you know when the token is about to expire, in addition to displaying an warning at the top of your Sales Manager control panel.
To update the token, log DIRECTLY onto vendio, go to My Account -> Auction Site Accounts, and click the "edit" link next to your eBay ID. Enter the email address associated with your eBay ID and go through the eBay signin process. After this process is completed, your token will be updated (note that you would need to repeat this process on our website if you change your eBay ID or password.)
The email we send to provide advance warning that your token will expire soon will NOT contain a link to click. It will only include instructions on how to update the token on our website. Vendio will never send an email with a link to update information, so if you receive an email asking you to click a link to update your information, it is most likely not legitimate.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
