Hi all, last night when launching new listings I signed up for the $2.95 per month scrolled gallery images. I opted for the images to show at the bottom of the auction. Today when looking at my auctions I realized I made a mistake. I should have put them at the top. My reasons are that if a buyer doesn't like the auction they are looking at then they won't bother to scroll down to the bottom and will miss my other auctions. But, per your instuctions listed below the only change I can make is on future new listings. Now if I didn't list my items via Vendio the change would go into effect in about one hour. That just doesn't seem fair. I have been with you for 4 years but it looks like I'm being penalized for listings my auctions with you whereas someone who doesn't gets a break. If it is all possible I would like the change to occur now rather than just on future listings. Please advise if this is possible and if not-why not! Thanks, Steve
P.S. I tried cutting and pasting the HML into the top of the auction but it didn't take.
When will my Gallery changes take effect?
Changes to: Will be visible:
Style, Colors, Placement On the next launch of new listings (or within 1 hour for new listings launched outside of Vendio)
Item Display Order, Messages On currently active listings within 1 hour
Item Image On next import

Per my post above:
Just where in the auction if I put the images at the top would they appear. Within the template - before my regular auction images or outside the template or where? I also notice that at the bottom it takes a few seconds for the scrolled images to appear. That is an eternity in computer time and an impatient buyer may not wait. That is another reason to list the scrolled images at the top. Where as the buyer is looking at the auction the scrolled images will appear. Steve

Hi Steve,
Unfortunately if you want to change the placement of the gallery from the bottom to the top for active items, you have to edit them on eBay and move the HTML for it. There is no way from within Vendio to move a gallery in an active listing to the top of the item as we cannot access customer accounts to make changes to individual auctions. Since you've made some changes to your gallery preferences, what I'd suggest for you is to go into your listing to revise it -- delete the existing code -- then paste new code up toward the top. You can get the new code from the gallery preferences page (at the bottom there's a 'do not automatically insert HTML' link that you can click on, to get code).
When you say you tried cutting and pasting HTML to the top, what HTML was it? The one from the link in gallery preferences?
If you have placement for the gallery at the top of your auction, it goes above your Vendio template and is outside of the template (just below the eBay DESCRIPTION bar).
Regarding the time it takes for the items to appear -- that is related to a person's computer, actually. If someone's on a dialup it will probably take longer than if they were on high speed internet. The gallery uses Flash. If you've never used Flash, then initially it might take a bit longer to load.
Regards,

Hi Sonya, I tried to use the HTML from the Vendio gallery site.I did try to do it in ebay by revising the item. What I didn't do was delete the old first. That is probably why it didn't take. IF I need to do this on each and every auction it is too time consuming. So, perhaps I'll just try it on one to see if I can do it and then wait until my next set of listings to change the format. The placement on top sounds like a good place for it to be and I would love to see it there. Do you agree with my reasoning of why I should put it at top instead of the bottom? Do you have any percentages on Vendio users as far as to where most people place it "Top vs Bottom"? The one question you didn't answer is why a non vendio user can have the changes made in one hour and a regular vendio user can't have it at all without having to do it themselves. It just doesn't seem fair to me. Thanks for your help. Steve

Hi Steve,
The hour time frame has nothing to do with whether or not you are a Vendio user. The galleries are updated every hour at a set time. It's not a time frame given so people can make changes to it before it is posted. If someone should be able to make a change and have it apply before the gallery shows up (after they've launched auctions) then honestly, they are pretty lucky to get away with that. I can see how this message is misleading...it basically means that if you are launching a gallery, within the next hour it will appear on your items.
I agree with your reasoning to put the gallery on top. Sometimes, buyers stop reading right after the end of the description so they could miss your gallery altogether. I unfortunately don't have statistics on what works better -- top or bottom -- but I do know sales have increased for gallery customers as much as 18% so hopefully you will see that big an increase in hits and sales. Good luck!
