Sometimes I have people e-mail me, whining about Vendio's checkout. Today I received an e-mail asking me this: "Why don't you use PayPal's checkout like everyone else on eBay? It's SO much easier."

Of course this annoyed me. I feel that PayPal's checkout system is awkward for sellers to deal with, and I don't think it integrates very well with Vendio's post-sale tools does it? BUT, I didn't really know what to say to this guy.

Why IS Vendio's checkout better? I've never even really used PayPal's checkout. Can sellers go in and edit the shipping total when shipping is reduced/combined, or do they have to issue a partial refund? I just don't have enough experience with PayPal's checkout to tell this guy why mine is better. Thoughts?

Thanks!
Amanda

Hi Amanda,

I am not familiar with PayPal's checkout either. A lot of people like using the familiar and since PayPal is an eBay company now, you may always run into people who prefer that. Vendio checkout allows you to cross sell items in your Vendio store. Buyers can't edit the shipping in Vendio checkout, however that is good for some sellers as it can prevent buyers from putting in the wrong amounts. You can use your winners in a mailing list, which you cannot do through PayPal. These are just a few of the positives about Vendio Checkout -- the new checkout is coming out soon, which was re-designed with our customers in mind. We make our changes and our upgrades based on user feedback as your feedback is very important to us.

I hope that my insight helps -- unfortunately I don't know much about PayPal's checkout to give you a good comparison.

Regards,

Sonya

Thanks Sonya,

That was part of my problem too...I don't know enough about PayPal's checkout system to compare the two either.

I'm mostly wondering how much you can edit shipping costs for your buyers in PayPal...And how hard it is. So, if anyone knows, I'd love to hear from you. I don't think I'll be switching to PayPal checkout, but I'd like to be able to explain to my buyers that I use Vendio for a reason...Not just to aggravate them & their fear of change.

Thanks,
Amanda

My buyers hate vendio checkout and I have the emails to prove it. I use it only for those who need to process credit cards.

Hello vintagethreads4u,

I've only had about 5 complaints regarding Vendio checkout in over 2 years of using it, so I don't see any reason to stop using it.

Since you don't use Vendio checkout, can you tell me how you adjust the shipping costs on combined orders, or for international shipments? Do you have to issue refunds, or are you able to make payments within PayPal before the transaction is completed?

Thanks!
Amanda

I leave it up to the buyer to use Vendio checkout or Paypal. All my shipping options are included in the auction (I sell one thing so shipping does not change). All of my items ship for the price of one, so shipping is combined automatically, and I left the buyer adjust it on ebay/paypal.

Most of my vendio checkout is done through my store by clients who use credit cards. In the past week I have had two buyers who could not get the checkout cart to work. I had to go manually process their cards.
