I have changed my preferances 4 times so my images will be click to enlarge...it will not take...they are still large in auction. Is this broken and the prefrences page is no longer working?

Hello

The 'click to enlarge' option is applied at the time the image is attached to the auction. If you have auctions that were not resized the first time around, you will need to edit them prior to relist to detatch/attach the images again so the new preference can be applied.

Christopher

I do not understand this. I tried an auction this morning and my images were not the click to enlarge in my templates...just large images. From your reply I assumed that this was added to photos when I uploaded them...so I uploaded 2 new photos this morning. My preferance was set so they would resize. Again I tried an auction and they are still large without that colored border that they should have on the click to enlarge. It will not change back to the new preferance that I set. What am I doing wrong? I have done this many times before and it worked fine. I would like to know if this preferance is set when the images are uploaded or when the auction is written up. This morning I did not use an old template...but an entire new one.

Hello,

The preference is not applied when you upload, only when you *attach* them to the listing.

If you have this preference turned on, it will only apply to the images you attach after you have turned it on. It will have no effect on auctions you have already running or images you simply upload.

Christopher

Yes I know that Christopher - DUH! I have done it dozens of times. What I am trying to tell you here and in the other thread is that: IT ISN'T WORKING!!! Do you assune we are idiots before checking to see that you MIGHT have a problem??? It DOESN'T WORK. I have rebooted, cleared my cache, turned off AOL (So don't try to buy time by making me checkout those things) and IT STILL DOES NOT WORK!

I just now tried it again and IT DOESN'T work. I created a dummy auction (look at my pending :"SOUTH DAKOTA won't enlarge" saved unscheduled auction). The preview shows the images as normal and not click to enlarge.

Hello bluebarn and neglus,

First, my apologies for not recognizing the error sooner. We had tested this earlier, but there are some other unusual specifics that made it appear to be working to us earlier.

It appears that whatever you last had set as your preference when (most likely) we pushed the new tools, is what is "stuck" right now.

Aka, if you had it setup to resize automatically, it will continue to resize even if you change it. (which is why we saw it working on our test earlier)

Our apologies for the inconvenience, engineering has been notified of this error and will work to resolve this ASAP.

As soon as we have more information available on this issue we will post back to this thread.

Regards,
Christopher

Still not working, look at my TEST auction. When you click the "PREVIEW" you can see the images are in their LARGER format and not clickable.

Just created a listing in SALES MANAGER PRO, if I do the PREVIEW they also appear in the large mode. No click to preview

Ok I really need to know if I can continue creating listings with this glitch but not launch them and hopefully they will go back to normal? Or if I have to stop creating listings altogether until the issue has been resolved?

I can't launch listings like this, people will hit the back button as soon as those huge images start loading.

If I create them will they be "stuck" in that mode???

Same problem here!
Check the one in my pending it is in Supersized mode instead of the "click to supersize". I haven't change anything in my preferences to have this. I do not want this one and the others I need to do today to launch with this look!
So it looks like we are waiting on you Vendio to continue today with our business!

Hello,

charlotts - your preferences are currently set NOT to downsize larger images and set the 'click to enlarge' link on them.

Once the fix went into place, whatever setting you had prior to the error taking place was what it reverted to. Just set it back to resize the images and when you go to attach images to future listings it will pick up this setting.(or if you edit a listing to detatch and reattach the images after switching the preference)

gottaluve - the fix will not change the auctions you already attached images to while the preference wasnt working properly. Go to the My Account page, click on the Global Preferences link and see if you have yours setup to resize the images.

If so, just edit the items to detach and then reattach the images and they will now pickup your settings properly.

Christopher

Where do I set for it to DOWNSIZE pictures?

-By the way, it worked fine before, so I suppose the theory of it reverting to what it was set before the error is not accurate.

Christopher,

Not sure if this is what you were trying to say (I was a bit confused by your wording), but I noticed that when you guys implemented the new checkout, my global preference of "always automatically resize images" (or whatever the wording is) was re-set from being checked to un-checked.

Luckily, I noticed this on my own before it caused me any problems.

Hello charlotts,

The "click to view larger version" option may be enabled or disabled by following these steps:

1. Go to My Account -> Global Preferences
2. Go to Item Listing Options
3. Check the box for "Automatically scale down large images for faster download and cleaner presentation"
4. Click "Save Preferences"

Let us know if you have trouble with any of the above steps and we can check the box for you.

-----------

mandaray3 - thank you for bringing this to our attention. There may be an issue with the fix for the preference that reverted it being disabled for all users. We'll pass this along to the engineering team to check into further and verify if that was the case or not.

Regards,
Christopher

I snuck away from ebay stuff for a day's R&R (which is why I was so desperate to get that auction with the resized photos launched). I am back at it now and it looks like it is working now.

I am sorry for the tone of my earlier post - you guys do a great job for the most part. However, user problems are probably the best indicator of "glitches" with new enhancements and perhaps should be studied with regard to possible cause -> effect of any changes that have been made to the system - especially when more than one user posts that he/she is experiencing the same or similar problem.

Anyway, thanks for getting it fixed in short order.

Just to clarify -- for some of us, clearly, the "click to enlarge" option that we've ALWAYS had on our auctions (and I list hundreds a month) did NOT stick when you pushed the new changes.

It unchecked itself.

And some of us have the misfortune of now having some auctions launched that are UGLY and are doomed because most people won't bother to look at them because the pictures are so huge.

Can you tell I'm pretty irritated right now?

Hello,

Our apologies for the issue, engineering has been notified of this error and will work quickly to correct it.

For now, log into your Vendio account and visit the My Account page. From here, click on the Global Preferences link found within and visit the Item Listing Options section. Check the box to enable automatic resizing of your images and click to save the change.

Again, we apologize for this error and hope to have it correctly as quickly as possible.

Christopher

Hey Vendio, you guys should post an announcement regarding this image resizing issue so that those who don't read the boards regularly will be aware of it.

Thanks!
Amanda

I still don't understand. I have a custom template. The Template ITSELF re-sizes my images to click to enlarge.

Why is THAT not working either?

See this example. Images are MUCH larger than they are supposed to be.

I've Never had "scale down images" thing checked off because my TEMPLATE is coded to do it. (and it always worked without the "scale down images" thing checked off. Now, it doesn't)

Forgot:

Just for comparison, THIS is how that above listing should look (the same item listed 2 weeks ago as an ebay store item.) See, the template has embedded click to enlarge. Why isn't it working?

Well, I tried to look at teh source of the template and it looks like it does not auto resize, so somehow my settings must have been changed without me changing them.

I've never touched the "resize images" area. Looks like it must have been checked and became unchecked without ME doing it.
