I received 2 emails so far tonight from ebay stating that I had images that appeared to be corrupt and cannot appear in the ebay gallery. They seem to be appearing in Vendio okay and on the auction listing okay so I'm trying to figure out what gives. The item #'s are 7523392327 and 7523395046.

Half of my gallery images aren't showing up properly, either. Even after I went to eBay's "change your gallery image" page (http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?DisplayGalleryImagePageV3) and prompted eBay to attempt to re-upload them. When I go to the "change gallery" page on eBay, I can SEE the correct preview image and link to the Vendio image, but it still won't show up in eBay's search results.
Does anyone know if this is a Vendio or an eBay thing?

I just did a random search of new items on eBay, and it looks to me that this may be an eBay glitch, since an unusual number of items are not showing gallery images (they are showing that placeholder graphic that eBay uses).
I also did a search of some other sellers' items, and this reinforced my suspicion that this is a problem with eBay, since the items that have recently gone on the market are not showing gallery images, but all these seller's previously listed items have gallery images.

I don't know who has the issue, but I have about 5 maybe 6 gallery images that are not showing up on ebay. The images appear correctly in the auctions but not in the gallery.

Hello everyone,
Please try this because it worked for my listings.
Change your Ebay "My Preferences" so it WON'T USE "Cross Promotion" and the gallery preview images should appear in your listings.
Best Regards

I have been having this same problem for a couple months now and with each weeks launch of new listings, the problem seems to be getting worse. Vendio says it's not at their end. I have had two responses from ebay that say essentially that I need to fix/change the image file. I use my first photo as my gallery photo. The first photo shows up fine in the listing but no gallery photo. I have to copy the address from the first photo then delete the address from the gallery image location and paste in the address I copied from the first photo. It is exactly the same address but sometimes this makes the gallery photo come up. We are being charged 35 cents and not having our gallery photos showing up. This wastes a ton of time every week having to revise all the listings with "corrupt" photo addresses. As of ebays last email, they were going to have a tech check into it - but that was last Thursday or Friday and I have not heard back from them since.

Hey guys,
Wow, I can see what you're talking about. However, running through my own tests, ALL of your images are completely valid working images. For example Cocogld's items don't show the gallery, but the image is a perfectly working image. Coco, could you please try changing your cross-promotion preferences and see if it allows the gallery to show up? I will open a bug about this on Vendio's end, but I'm putting my money on the fact this is an Ebay issue. All the images they are saying are Bad, WORK perfectly. There is nothing wrong with any of those images. I do believe this is an ebay glitch. It's happening for people who list anywhere, not just with Vendio.
Thank you!
Bob

eBay admitted it was their fault:
Hello Amanda,
Thank you for taking the time to write us
regarding your gallery image.
We are aware that between the afternoon of
June 11, 2005 and 01:55 AM
PDT June 13, 2005 some gallery images could
not be added and were
returning an error message.
We have now corrected this for all new items.
If your item was listed
between the above times, please use the "fix
your gallery image" link.
You can access this by getting your item
number then following these
steps:
1. Open a new browser.
2. Go to http://www.ebay.com
3. Click on the "Site Map" link located at
the top of any eBay page.
4. Click the "fix my gallery image" link
located in the middle column.
You may be asked to sign in.
5. Enter in your item number.
6. Confirm that the image is appearing.
7. Click on the "Submit" button.
Your gallery image should now be updated in
the scheduled next image
update. These updates are every 4-6 hours.
I apologize for any inconvenience this has
caused. We would like to
assure you that we are committed to your
online trading success.

This problem has been going on a lot longer than 2 days....I have been having trouble for at least the last 2 months.....I got nearly the same reply weeks ago - except for the admission of a problem from 6/11 - 13.......their fix did not work.....it will be interesting to see how many corrupt gallery messages I get after my auctions launch tomorrow evening.

Nothing happened when I used their fix.....the images never showed up. The only way I could get the gallery image to come up was to go to each of the listings individually, hit revise listing, copy the address of the first/free image, delete the address of the gallery image (which was exactly the same as the first/free image), paste it into the gallery image space, save and submit the changes. Within the hour the gallery image came up. It is really a stupid thing to have to do and it wastes a ton of time not to mention being charged 35 cents for the picture that's not working properly.

Hey Windycity,
I'm not sure if going to all that trouble really helped, or not. I just left my gallery images alone and they magically appeared about an hour or two after the problem started too.

But I have to add this postscript.....I did relaunch 7 store items this evening and all 7 gallery images came up without a hitch. But I also made adjustments in my cross promotion section. I checked off to use the items that had a gallery image instead of use any item (or something to that nature). I use a gallery image in all my listings both store and auction so it really makes no difference to me how they select the cross promotion item whether it has a gallery or not that is because all of mine do, but maybe changing that setting made a difference. I will find out tomorrow night when the bulk of my weeks auction listings launch.

I had left all my "corrupt" gallery images alone since last Tuesday night since I had emailed ebay and asked them to check them out. As of this morning, they were still missing so I had to go in and fix them myself. 35 cents an image for what? Six days of no gallery image?.....but like I said in the last post.....I relaunched 7 items this evening and all 7 pics came up fine so maybe they have fixed the problem.

Well, I'm glad things are looking a bit better, windycity. Let's keep our fingers crossed that this problem has been solved.
It hurts when you don't have gallery images appearing during that oh so important "newly listed" period when people are much more likely to pay attention to them.
