I have auctions that I relisted yesterday, however they are not showing up in 'active' and they remain in 'unsold'. If I click on the old auction number in 'unsold', it brings up the old auction page noting that this item has been relisted.
I have 'imported' many times and these auctions will not leave 'unsold' and go to 'active'- so this does not work for these listings.
This has happened before- and I waited days for them to move to active and they did not. At that time, I just 'deleted' the 'unsold' listing (so that I would not relist it by mistake). However what has happened is people have won these items; yet because there was no record of an active item, there was no 'post-sale' (no 'winning bidder email', no record of a sale, etc). Thankfully each time the bidding emailed me. With an average of 1000 ebay auctions/store items there is no way for me to even know about these 'ghost' auctions. Shearly by chance last night when I was relisting, I went back 'unsold' to relist more and noticed these 2 listings still there while the others left as they should have. After double-checking and waiting, they still did not go to 'active'.
This may also be the reason that there is always a discrepancy between the number of items I have listed on ebay and the number of items I have showing in my Vendio 'active' items. Ebay always shows me as having 4 more items than Vendio. 'Importing' does no good- they will not import into Vendio- yet all of my listings are/were created in Vendio.
So what do I do now with these 2 items that I listed last night that will not leave 'unsold' and will not go into 'active'? I don't want to delete them as I want to have some kind of reference to them. I have about 350 items to relist and can't be worrying that some may get relisted multiple times if I by chance don't notice them not leaving 'unsold'.
Is it possible for Vendio move them from 'unsold' to 'active' for me? If so (or even if not) why is this happening?

Hello,
What are the item numbers of the effected items? We may be able to manually track just these specific items back into your account or try simply refreshing the closed listings if they are true relists and should have been removed from closed once active again.

Thanks Christopher, the closed/unsold item numbers are: 7339758345 & 7339761719 (I can't quite remember, but I think these ended around Aug 28th)
A majority of my items are ebay store relists. These two specific items are no different than all of the other items I relisted two dys ago. As mentioned, this seems ot be sporatic and has happened before, as long as well over a year ago.
As for the 4 items that are not showing up in Vendio active- there is no possible way for me to go through each and every ebay auction- they are needles in a haystack.

Hello,
Sorry for the frustration of this. I looked and found that both of these items are closed at eBay but not in your Postsale.
I have started the process of looking further into why this is happening, but I don't have the answer for you right now. I probably won't till after the holiday weekend.

I was wondering if anyone has looked into this yet? Yes, those two items are closed, but they have been relisted yet are still in my post-sale/unsold list.

this has been a problem for a few years, it is most upsetting when you end a store item and want to put it into an auction format, the item doesn't show up in closed for an hour or more in most cases.

When this happened to me I was told by a Vendio Rep (not sure which one) that it happened because I imported listings. It doesn't make much sense!
I agree with the OP - it is a horror show when one relies on Vendio "Post Sale - Unsold Items" to do relists! It also is a pain not to be able to do post-sales management on these items that were listed and re-listed through vendio and yet somehow stuck in a "dead" status and not tracked in the system!

When this happens, my problem starts in 'post-sale/unsold' when I relist a group of auctions. After that group launches, I go back and do another group- however, for these few that ACTUALLY do launch but DO NOT LEAVE 'post-sale/unsold' I have relisted them a second time because they just 'blend in' with all my other 'post-sale/unsold' items. Now I have double listings for single items. I usually have 1000 items and can in no way sort these out. I had a person just this week purchase two exact items- but alas it was actually only one item, mistakenly double-listed. I am sure the continuation of this problem is that some of these double-lists are not tracked in Vendio, hence the discrepency in active items in Ebay vs active items in Vendio.
As it stands, I have had over 500 items to re-list for the past week but am too afraid to relist them for fear of those few that erronously remain in 'post-sale/unsold' after launching. I will surely re-launched them over and over again - creating multiple items- as they look like any other 'unsold' item that needs to be relisted.

Since a week has gone by, I think I have waited long enough.
I have 500 items that have been in 'post-sale/unsold', most for a week now, and they need to be relisted- I really do need to make some money.
I went ahead this evening and relisted about 200 of them, and as anticipated 3 of those items launched just fine- yet refused to leave 'post-sale/unsold' and are not in 'active'.
As mentioned, the 1st problem/danger here is that they are sitting there in 'post-sale/unsold' "looking like an item that wants to be relisted"...but they are merely 'ghosts' and if I re-list them by mistake, then I will have double-listings for items that I only have one of.
The 2nd problem is that since these items are STUCK IN 'Post-sale/unsold' and ARE NOT showing up in active', there will be no 'post-sale' tools for the real item.
I have spent way too many non-productive hours on this trying to go over my relists with a fine tooth comb to make sure they don't get double-listed. Totally defeats having any organized system (such as Vendio) to help me 'manage my auctions'. How can I manage my auctions when my 'unsold' item list is wrong (and not trustworthy), my 'active' item list is wrong, and my 'post-sale' item list is wrong.
Below are the NEW relists that are still in 'post-sale/unsold' yet are not in 'active'...they have BEEN relisted ...I have received a confirmation email from ebay that they HAVE been listed. If you click on these auctions you will note on the upper part of the auction page that they say 'this item has been relisted':
7340651538
7340650848
7340514996
and the two other ones from last week:
7339758345
7339761719
I didn't list the new item numbers but you will see that all of these have been relisted.

Hello,
I am sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your relists. Abe will be working on Monday -- we can check with him and who he was working with regarding this issue. Unfortunately I do not have an update on the situation for you.

Hello,
Sorry for the delayed reply, this is not a simple issue to verify or diagnose.
I have really tried to thoroughly get to the bottom of this issue, but cannot find an instance in which Vendio did not take the action it was supposed to. It is possible that the movement of items from Unsold, to Active was delayed by some amount of time, but it does appear to be happening.
I looked up the items from your post on the 9th and found:
7340651538 was relisted and became 7349699010,and is now shown on page 6 of Active Listings
7340650848 was relisted and became 7349699027,and is now shown on page 6 of Active Listings
7340514996 was relisted and became 7349701677,and is now shown on page 7 of Active Listings
I have been looking into the items you sent from your post on the 2nd as well, and found:
7339758345 was relisted and became 802688586 which opened 2005-07-27 20:50:11 and closed 2005-08-31 21:29:00
This item does not show as having been relisted, so it is still in unsold.
7339761719 was relisted and became 802698025, which opened 2005-07-27 21:27:11 and closed 2005-08-31 22:44:00
Neither of these two items shows as having been relisted on or around 8/31, the date you referred to in your first
post. I looked thoroughly into these items, and I traced the previous listing and relisting of the items, but I don't see them as relisted after 8/31/05.
Are there any other items that you know you listed yesterday that are not showing in Active Listings now? If so, you can send the item number and I can look into it.
I think some degree of delay in items moving from Unsold to Active may be making it look like items are not moving, when they actually are. I don't think the two items you sent before actually launched. Both were ended early on their previous listing and I coul't find an instance of a relist on 8/31 for either.
I can try again if you can send me the eBay item number for an item that is in "Unsold" in Vendio, but live on eBay.

Thanks Abe, but I think maybe I wasn't explaing this all correctly to you. I did a bit more delving into this and here is what is happeneing:
Right now I have 6 auctions in post sale/unsold that I relisted (days ago). HOWEVER, these 'unsold' items did not leave 'unsold' and did not go into 'active' as they should have. They are [still] located on page 3 of my unsold items and here are their numbers:
If you click on these numbers within my 'post-sale/unsold' you will notice on ebay that they have indeed been relisted. So...why are they still in 'unsold'? There is no 'delay' (they are still there) AND yes they are also showing up in my Vendio 'active' items.
Bottom line? What appears to be happening is that they are indeed being relisted- but as COPIES.
I never 'copy' an auction, I always 'relist'. Those auctions and thousands of others over the last 5 years have always been relisted the same way, over and over, some months on end in my store- and they are never copied- with the exception of these few that I am having a problem with. These 6 were relisted with a few hundred a few days ago- all went just fine except these.
I realized that these auctions that had remained in my 'post-sale/unsold' were listed as 'copies' because I went through all of my active items and noticed that these specific items had 'N/A' for the counter number. I thought that was strange when I first noticed it and figured it was related to this problem. I went ahead and ended these auctions (2 from the list above above, as you mentioned, but you got the relist #'s wrong). Now what you will see in my post-sale/unsold (on page 3) is double 'unsold' listings for each of those 2 auctions:
7339758345 & 7347550803 are the EXACT SAME item.
7339761719 & 7347555831 are the EXACT SAME item.
I only have one of each of those 2 items, however in 'unsold' it is showing as two auctions for each (different item numbers). If the 1st item numbers 'relisted' as they should, those items would have left 'unsold' and went to 'active'. Instead, they 'copied' and left a 'ghost' auction in 'unsold'. Now they are closed for a second time and are showing 2 of each of the items.
The simplest thing of course would be for me to just delete these out of my 'unsold', however there seems to be a snag >> these 'copies' have no counters (no big deal) but I also believe they have no 'post-sale' options. I had one item that was mistakenly double-listed...I think due to this same problem a few months ago...and when the same person purchased both items, only one winning bidder email was sent for one item; the other items did go to post-sale, but a winning bidder email was never sent. (I archived the sold double-listing.)
Another concern is that if this happens again, I may relist an item over and over and over if it remains in my 'unsold' by mistake (because hey, if it's there that means the item hasn't been re-listed, right??) A 'post-sale/unsold' list should be an actual 'post-sale/unsold' list, hence items that are not 'active' and not 'sold' and are 'relistable'. My list of 'unsold' items now contain items that are actually 'active' and may become 'sold'.
I am really just exhausted and can't waste much more time on this. As I said, I could just delete these- and I will- but I am just worried that I may miss the next erronious group of 'copies' and may mistakenly relist their 'ghost unsold' counterpart that remains in 'unsold'.
This problem isn't new- it has happened a few times starting a year or so ago. I brought it up then, but no real solution. I have more active items that are showing 'N/A' for the counter counts. I am just going to go ahead and end & delete those as I am pretty sure they are 'copies' (which I don't do) so chances are good that they are double-listed or already-sold items.
Well, if you find out why some relists make 'copies' instead of 'relisting' (and physically moving from unsold to active- not copying...just like an item moves from 'active' to 'sold'), I'd be interested in knowing.

Hello,
Just an FYI on the whole 'copy' Vs 'relist' part of the above, note that eBay no longer gives credit for a relist item past the second time around. In the past they used to give credit if the item sold on any even attempt, but now if must sell the first time an unsold item is relisted, or no credit will ever be given.
As a result, we only submit items as a 'relist' to eBay when the last time around was a brand new listing. Aka, every odd number you resubmit an item it would be sent to eBay as a 'copy' to remove its association with the original and give you more chances to qualify for relisting credit.
As a side note to that, anytime a 'copy' is submitted, the original remains in your closed section. Only when a true 'relist' occurs would the original be removed from the closed section (once the relist went active.)
I hope this helps shed some light on what your working on.

when I relist a closed item it shows up as a relist or non-refundable in the left column on the relist page. This way I know prior to relisting the item whether or not I am paying for it if it sells this time around.

"These are items for Relist"
This is exactly what it says at the top of the 'post-sale/unsold' item list.....
So, I can only 'assume' that these items are not 'active' nor 'sold'- and that is how it has always worked for 5 years. This issue of a stray item remaining in 'unsold' once relisted came up over a year ago, and believe me, it is an issue and it is NOT the norm.
You said: "Only when a true 'relist' occurs would the original be removed from the closed section (once the relist went active.)"...
This is NOT TRUE- as I mentioned, in 5 years I have relisted items multi-multi times for up to a year (in auction and then into my ebay store) and i can tell you AS FACT that items have ALWAYS moved from 'unsold' to 'active'. With 500-1000 items going a week I can tell you without a doubt that this is the case; and this is EXACTLY why I am telling you about these 6 items now. They stand out like a sore thumb to me.
I know all about relists being refunded only after the 2nd time. That is not the issue. I don't care if you call it a 'relist', a 'copy', a 'multiple'...doesn't matter to me. The only thing that matters is that an item MOVES from 'post-sale/UNSOLD' to 'ACTIVE. I relist (ie: put items back on ebay) through 'UNSOLD....if an item stays in unsold' then it will always have the potential to be erroniously double-listed on ebay. I sell unique items and do not have multiple same items.
Paula (from one Paula to another Paula!): Good point- that is exactly how I know what is 'refundable' and what is 'not refundable' as far as relists go.
Christopher, fyi, as per these 6 errant auctions...when I relisted them last week, they NEVER said 'copy' on them in the left column on the 'relist' page...they still said 'relist/non-refundable'...

Hello,
Just to confirm, this issue actually has nothing at all to do with the bahavior of items that you relist, and if they are a "true" relist or a "copy"
Rather, some of the items that you submitted/resubmitted did not appear in your active list, although they DID launch to eBay and appear in your sellers list.
Does this sound correct?
If so, we need to start addressing simply why we were unable to confirm the launch of said items and get off of this "what happens when you relist" topic. If we had been able to confirm the launch of said listings, then "what happens when you relist" items would come into play, but only then.
posted on September 14, 2005 02:17:01 PM new
OK, we can start from there: why Vendio was not able to confirm launch of these items. If that is the case, then maybe that is WHY those 6 auctions remain in 'unsold'.
However, I do have a question then:
If those relaunches did not appear in my active list on vendio, then why (and how) did they go to 'unsold' after I closed 2 of them?
Example:
7339758345 (the real one) and 7347550803 (the supposed copy/unconfirmed launch) are the EXACT SAME item. If 7347550803 was not in active on Vendio, how did it go to 'unsold' in Vendio once I ended it?
(same situation example here):
7339761719 & 7347555831 are the EXACT SAME item.
Maybe all in all it is a glitch in Vendio getting confirmation of relaunches which keeps the item in 'unsold'? yet creates a copy? either way, it leaves my inventory in a mess.
You mention 'get off of this "what happens when you relist" topic'; I would rather have the glitch of an item not appearing in 'active'- my customers usually pay quickly on their own anyways and I eventually figure out the item on ebay. What I cringe at is the idea of multi-listing and multi-selling the same item over & over because my list of 'unsold' items is wrong.
So if the cause of all of this is:
1) Vendio not getting confirmation from ebay of a relaunch,
2) hence the item not appearing in 'active',
2) causing my 'unsold' items to not move out of 'unsold' and into 'active,
==then we need to find out why Vendio is not getting some launch confirmations.
If the cause of my 'unsold' items not moving to 'active' when relaunched is NOT related to lack of launch confirmation, then I need to find another system to use to monitor my auctions.

Hello
On item 7347550803, the reason it shows up in your closed/unsold list is because it was imported.
As was 7347555831, 7347344381, 7347342498, 7347335758, 3730843851, 3730843844, and 3730843849.
None of the imported listings would have been tracked into your Sales Manager automatically. As a result, any of these that you submitted from Vendio as 'relists' would have been disconnected from the originals in your unsold/closed section.
If the originals for the above listings were used to relist these from Vendio - all would remain in your closed/unsold section as the system was unable to confirm their launch. This is also how items re-listed directly from the eBay website would appear (not saying this was done, just fyi.)
The evening of the 7th and morning of the 8th was specifically when we ran into these issues with the eBay API, but has since cleared.
In these cases, the 'original' listing that appears in your closed/unsold section would need to be manually deleted(archived.)

Now that all makes sense:
Those items we relisted...Vendio received no confirmation of their relaunching, hence that is why they remained in my 'unsold and not moved to my 'active'. Then I did an import, so they (disconnectively) imported into my Vendio active listings. I understand about them not being able to be tracked in my sales manager.
Now it also makes sense as to why they appeared as 'copies', as Sales Manager does not recognize them.
So it all comes down to a glitch on Sept 7th & 8th of some launches not being recognized? Good to know as I thought I was losing my mind!! This has happened before and I went through about the same thing. (Can we give this a 'problem/issue #? just for future ref!) My inventory is a bit screwed up on some items, but by making note the ones that have no hit counters (the 'N/A' ones) tells me that those are ones that were imported and they are probably the ones that came from launches not confirmed by Vendio. For the past year or so I have had a disparity in the number of active auctions on ebay vs. Vendio, and have been doing 'import' every month to try to figure it out. I ended those imports, as well as 120 'good till cancelled' store items and I finally have matching item counts on both sites.
Christopher, thanks for bearing with me- when there is something that I cannot fix myself nor have the answer to, I sometimes have a hard time even trying to explain the problem, much less wait for an answer!
