Got an eBay email today saying they cancelled 14 of my auctions saying: "...your listing(s) was in violation of eBay's Site Interference policy and has been removed from eBay.Your listing(s) contains the following information:Script: Black Border around Title." I verified this notice in "My Ebay" so it is not a spoof email.
Now, I listed the same auctions I always do, no changes at all, certainly not whatever they claim this means! I don't even know what it means! I am a full-time seller for 5+ years and have never gotten an auction cancelled before and would never do anything to jeopardize my standing with them! Also, they KINDLY explained if I do it again, I could be removed from eBay entirely! How do I NOT do again what I DON'T know what I did in the first place?
Please advise me as soon as possible on this! I can't even pull up any of the cancelled auctions to take a look at the HTML or anything cuz eBay's cancellation of them all has made it like they never existed!!! I checked in my account there and found that 9 were launched anew, directly either out of Inventory or copied from Closed auctions, and 5 were re-lists, adding to the mystery, since they were sort of coming from different areas of Vendio! Also, don't all the titles on the auction pages have black borders around the them (if that's what they are referring to)?
Help is appreciated immediately! Here are 4 of the 14 in case they may help you in determining what was wrong if possible!
7723442803, 7723439976 (re-list), 7723442840, 7723613164 (re-list)
THANKS!
PS: Just did some more digging & found - no, I was wrong -no other auctions of other sellers could I find that had the black border around their titles on the auction page! As far back as I could go (to May '05) it's been doing that on mine - I thought it was just another annoying change eBay was doing to auction listings without asking us!I don't think it actually does anything to sell the item more than another seller's since they're already on my page when they see it and it isn't exactly impressive, and ALL my auctions that are listed now ALSO have the black boxes!!! I actually went into "Revise Your Auction" to see if I could find some goofy HTML or something in there but you can't even get to the title's HTML! So it has to be some weird internal thing originating at Vendio!

Hello,

Out of your currently active 18 listings, the only listings that do *not* currently have this border appearing around the title are the items where you have since edited the description.

On all of the listing where the border is still around the title there are bids and you have been unable to edit the description.

What did you remove from the description field that has cleared this border from around the title of your listings?

I checked over some of the existing listings but unable to track down a specific portion of the javascript that would rewrite the border around the eBay title.

Regards,
Christopher

Yeah, after I posted my inquiry here I started experimenting with removing any HTML in my auctions that placed borders around things (I have them all in my "Custom Text" box in "My Account" and found the border I had around one of my Policy Info paragraphs was somehow goofing with eBay's interfacing and their HTML, sort of like "hacking" into their system - who knew I was such a wiz-kid on the computer? Hah! =) No wonder eBay was so freaked out about this! Anyhoo, so I went in and simply changed the one border (the fact that it was in my "Custom Text" made it an easy one-time fix, without having to change all the auctions I have in Inventory and/or Pending, etc.), all the others I have in there had no affect on eBay's system, and, voila! Man, you learn as you go, don't ya? I did have to edit the ones already on eBay one at a time, couldn't, as you noticed, change the bid on items, but that's OK, eBay can see clearly now I have fixed the snafoo & am an honest seller who inadvertently hacked into their system unknowingly - hmmmmm, wonder what I could do with the Pentagon's computers!!!!
