A thread dealing with this got started in the Ebay Outlook posts, but it probably is more suited for suited for here where sellers are maximally motivated to make the Vendio postsale system work. http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=623056

Could any of you who successfully use Vendio postsale, especially if you also use the ebay checkout, please share with us the ways you go about working around the non-integration of Vendio with the ebay checkout?

Perhaps customer service could ante up some creative suggestions also, because it is really a potential deal breaker for postsale if the customers are antagonized or are unwilling to do business with us because of the checkout, and we cannot access or integrate with the data in the only checkout most are willing and eager to use.

Actually, they've been integrated to some degree. I don't know how it works if ebay checkout is enabled - I use checkout redirect - but I have very few problems.

Vendio has finally streamlined checkout and allowed buyers to store their info. I use the paypal IPN feature so that payments and shipping info are automatically posted to checkout even if the buyer bypasses checkout.

In the last year I think I had one buyer who absolutely refused to use a third party site, and that was before I converted to checkout redirect.

Hello Passedtothepresent,

You can offer both eBay and Vendio Checkout. One of the changes we made was to make it easier for you to specify shipping -- you now only have to enter in the cost once and it will apply to both checkouts. While there are some things that don't integrate (for example, we do not support the eBay shipping calculator nor do we integrate with eBay selling manager), it is much easier than it was when you had last been an active Vendio customer. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards,

Sonya

Thank you. The checkout changes are very much appreciated. I evidently have a different customer expectation base. The independent web sites in my niche area usually do not use a checkout. Most of them do everything by personal emails, including all their ebay auctions. I just can't see sitting up all night with a pencil and a receipt book handwriting emails and receipts with all these wonderful tools available.

My bidders were very willing to use the ebay checkout, but at least 30% were not willing to use the Vendio checkout (even with the redirect enabled), and about 1/3 of those got really worked up over it all in a very negative sense, demanding ebay link communications only, ignoring or blocking my Vendio emails, and occasionally threatening to report me to ebay. A fairly high percentage of those who would or could not use the Vendio checkout were planning to send checks or money orders and preferred not to use Bidpay either, so the Paypal IPN and Bidpay notification captures were worthless in those cases.

Specifically, if I leave the redirect disabled, how do I get the ebay checkout info into the Vendio post sale system efficiently? The only 2 things I have been able to think of since the original thread post is either 1)request contact information after each auction closure and paste it line by line into the Vendio checkout so I can manually bulk-trigger a WBN that says all their info was received from ebay. Or 2) launch auctions through ebay's Selling Manager Pro and then track them all into Vendio. It kills me I would not be able to use Vendio to list, but at least I would have some post sale automation in either place they choose to pay.

Hello,

If these buyers are not planning to use PayPal to pay you, then unfortunately, it becomes a bigger task to update Vendio with buyer information (for those who insist on using eBay Checkout). You would need to do it manually. I would actually recommend trying that first as it seems like it would be a lot less work than your other option.

Sonya

I use just about everything Vendio but the check-out and WBN.I have developed some work-arounds integrating some of ebay, some of PayPal and Vendio:

Every morning, or when I get around to it, I send a manual ebay invoice. If you right click on the "send invoice" button in the "sold" items on My Ebay you can bring up an invoice and close it without having to start over and over again. I copy and paste the same message in the message section of the ebay invoice. It only takes a few minutes to invoice a day's worth of sales (I sell about 700-800 items/month).

You can set PP to feed the payment information (including buyer address) to Vendio. Most of my customers pay by PP so that works swell (except Vendio shows NO PAYMENT for ANY item when buyer pays for more than one item - GLITCH). I download a PayPal history log whenever I ship to get a complete list of all payments received. This list includes buyers' addresses so I merge this data into a packing slip (WORD document) and print my envelopes from the Word doc. I update Vendio to shipped status when I ship.

When I receive a check, I mark "payment received" (Step 3) on Vendio and get to the ebay item through the Vendio link - once there I click on "Payment Details" and get the customer address and paste it in a Word Document and print enveopes from there. I update the Vendio status as I ship.

I prefer to work from Vendio Post-Sale as I only have to key in the last 3 or 4 digits in "Search" to find the item rather than the whole number in ebay search. Vendio's title search is also invaluable when receiving check payments.

Sonya-- can you be more specific about exactly how to to "do it manually"? The problem is that the information is not available until after the person has already checked out. In the past experience of the Vendio customer service team from those you have advised, what is the easiest way to get the information and get it into postsale? The routine notification of sale emails to the seller from ebay don't have the customers address information, only their email and id.

neglus--thank you very, very much!!!!!

Hello,

Doing it manually involves clicking on the set of post sale keys, and clicking on the 'edit'or 'go to buyer checkout' link for step 2. Fill out the information as if you were the buyer, inputting their information, and hitting Save at the end.

Then, you would need to mark your item as paid, which you can do either through the Post Sale section or through the fulfillment checklist.

Hello Sonya. Thanks for the reply back, but I don't think you understood my question. How to edit the checkout in post sale is not the problem. The problem is that there is no information to put in. The buyer will not use the Vendio checkout if the redirect is disabled (to prevent crossover information at ebay, or for whatever other reason), and there is no integration with the ebay checkout data if the buyer uses ebay. What are the methods Vendio suggests their sellers use to get the buyers' ebay information into the Vendio checkout? Thanks.

passedtopresent - I just tried this method and it worked:
1) Go to ebay and find the transaction in "sold" items
2) click on "Payment details" (you have to have sent an ebay invoice to get details unless buyer uses ebay checkout)
3)find the item in Vendio Post Sale
4)open Post Sale and in Step 2 there is an "edit" field
5) copy the information from ebay post-sale to Vendio, indicate shipping method etc and save.

I wish that Vendio could import this info!

Hello passedtothepresent,

First, im sorry to hear that you cannot get anyone to checkout in Vendio without enabling the checkout redirect tool. I do however understand your not wanting to use the redirect tool if you were having issues with eBay marking non paypal items as paid as a result of it's use.

Currently if you opt out of the Vendio checkout completely, there are only two ways to get the buyers information into the system. The first is to enter it manually, which has been covered already.

Your comment about not having the information to put in would indicate that the buyer hasnt checked out from anywhere yet to where you wouldnt have that information, so we'll skip those items.

Your second option is the PayPal IPN. Go to the My Account page and click on the Post Sale Acceleration link found within. From here check the box to import the winning bidder information from PayPal when you receive payments. Then click on the 'click here' link near the top to get the directions for setting up the PayPal IPN process, or at least to verify that you do have this enabled and in place.

These would be the only options currently for entering buyer information into the Vendio checkout on transactions where the buyer did not checkout from Vendio.

Christopher

Christopher - A seller can see the buyer's address on ebay "Payment Details" if either one of two actions occurs: 1)seller sends buyer an invoice 2) buyer checks out through ebay. I send my invoices through ebay and can see "payment details" immediately afterwards.

Thank you all very much.

Christopher--I already have the IPN enabled correctly. As long as 90 percent of folks use Paypal and the Paypal shipping glitch gets fixed, it is not too bad. But if they do not use Paypal the IPN setup is worthless, redirect or not. Besides, since there are major glitches currently with Paypal in the Vendio checkout--like some customers not being to pay and the shipping not recording correctly such as is being discussed in other threads, I don't feel I can send a customer through the Vendio checkout at all. Either I find out how to work a combination of the ebay checkout and Vendio postsale or I have to leave Vendio for the same reasons I left the first time (which I am trying very hard to avoid because I really, really love SMIE even though I do mostly one of a kind items).

Neglus--thank you , thank you, thank you!!! I came to ebay auctions through Vendio and have never used ebay to manage sales. Your combination is exactly what I was hoping someone who wasn't using the Vendio checkout might be willing to share. It's a great solution.

Hello Passedtothepresent,

Unfortunately we will probably never be able to import information directly from eBay's selling manager. What 'neglus' suggested was near to what I was trying to suggest but it looks like I didn't do a very good job.

Regarding Paypal issues with shipping -- that is a PayPal issue. Unfortunately since they seem slow to correct it, the only thing we can do is keep pushing at them (they had said everything should have been fixed last week).

In short, I would recommend doing what 'neglus' suggested.

Regards,

Sonya
