Oh man ... I'm always smarter than this, but I responded to an email that appeared to come through eBay's "My Messages." Then, later yesterday (Sunday, March 26, 2006) two bogus ads appeared on my account as being offered for sale by me. They were Item Number 8787528704, an Alienware laptop computer, and Item Number 8787529318, a Dell laptop.
I ended both auctions and began the laborious process of changing all of my passwords. In the process, I also discovered that the culprit had changed my email address on file with eBay to "[email protected]."
As I say, this started with a phishing email that appeared to be sent through eBay, asking questions about shipping. When I responded, I was prompted to log in to My eBay.
The message supposedly came from a member called steven-morrissey. I have forwarded the email to [email protected].
Just thought everyone ought to know.

Thank you for the reminder. eBay has gotten to be a target for this type of activity and it is sometimes easy to forget that.
Especially when it comes to email, be very very careful and don't click on any links within.
If eBay says you have an account problem, go to eBay.com directly to log into your account - don't use any links in an email.
The same goes for PayPal, no matter how legit things appear, manually go over to their website to check any possible issues - never use a link given to you within an email.
Tricks that used to work in the past to identify fake's may not always work, so its best never to take any chances.
