I received the following email today about a Marketplace item:
As a courtesy, we wanted to let you know that payment from the buyer of xxxxxxx has been delayed. The credit card submitted for payment must be updated by the buyer before the transaction can be completed, and we have
already contacted your buyer to resolve this matter.
We expect to receive payment shortly, and will contact you as soon as that happens. Please continue to reserve this item for the buyer, but
DO NOT SHIP it until you receive confirmation from Amazon.com that your payment is secured.
If 72 hours pass from the time the purchase was made and you have not been notified of payment, you are welcome to consider the transaction void and resubmit your listing. When necessary, relisting is done via your Seller Account--once there, just click on "closed" items under "Your Inventory", then click "Relist this item." Your Seller Account is located here:

Because you sold an Auctions or zShops item, Amazon.com assessed "closing" fees at the time of sale. If 72 hours pass without payment,
you may have those fees credited back to you using the link below: http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/help/credit-requests

Well that's progress, at least you weren't left wondering, and you know how long is too long. Personally I'd wait a bit longer. I've had a few "delayed" SHIP NOW emails.

Been getting quite a few of these lately. I have a feeling that people have been coming back to Amazon for the holidays after a long lay off. Sales have been good also.

So far I've had 3 books that had absolutely no followup, nothing along the lines of "buyer's credit card never went through, feel free to re-list". On the first 2, I emailed Amazon about it. On the third, I just gave up after about a week and listed the book on ebay. They need to work out this problem.
