Just monitoring the overall landscape. I was wondering if sales picked up for anyone at Amazon last week; and I mean in any of the forums such as, auctions, Marketplace and zShops.

Just a reminder 2/15/01, "improvement" day is coming. It may be good to back up any listings that you have currently running, just in case...

How do you back up listings?? And what't being improved now??

Sales were down 20% by dollar total last week.

Bids however are up so far this week.

On 02/15/01, the changes Amazon outlined in the email they issued last month (hope you received one) will go into effect. Some include: doing away with closed listings for zShop, ending the every two week closing of zShop listings, and the new mandatory signup for Amazon.com payment.

For zShop and Marketplace, you can use the "inventory loader" to download reports of your open listings that are currently running (sometimes there are few listings suspended in who knows where). This feature is very useful and will allow you to reload lost listings if needed; do you remember the October fiasco...? You may need Excel 2000, I mentioned something about a problem I had with Excel and the replies led me to believe that Excel 97, may also work. I'm not sure of this, though.

For auctions, well, that's a little harder. In the past (I took down my Amazon auctions), I printed the open listings to at least know what I had up and running. Of course, this may not be wise if you sell in high volume. I think input from others who are more familiar with this area would be better.

I just want everyone to prepare, just in case. Sales have been slow in zShop and average in Marketplace for me, and "glitches" could have a negative impact. It might be wise to also print out a copy of your previous transactions or export them to a database, if you don't usually do this.

Sales have been off ever since the second week in January, when the minor problems surfaced. This weekend was a bit stronger, especially Marketplace items.
