An Amazon seller I interviewed is telling me that she's been told that all of her auctions will be canceled - or not allowed to be relisted - unless she signs up with AP.

This sounds outrageous! Has anyone else heard this? Where can I learn more?

I am a Canadian Seller on Amazon and have been for about a year and a half. I have had a constant running battle with the "nice helpful customer-service people" at Amazon about 1-Click since 1999. Being Canadian, they did not allow me to accept 1-Click. I wrote and wrote and gave them all sorts of solutions to the "international" problem. I even offered to help them with the verification process that they have claimed they can't do. (Mind you, that has not stopped them from billing my credit card on a timely basis though.) Anyway, with the new policy of if you don't accept 1-Click, you can't sell on Amazon I nearly fell off of my chair when I read it. They have been the one's refusing to allow me to accept it not the other way around here!! Imagine! Finally, I had to get a U.S. address and a U.S. bank account (in the U.S.) and had to fax it all in to them. Never mind the "bug" that appeared on my account that keep stating that this is a duplicate application??? What a real mess it all was! Now, for the cherry on top of the Sundae, is when I tried to list in MarketPlace, they told me that my zip code/postal code is not valid and I can't list there either??? Guess, I am stuck with Auctions and ZShops. Any ideas anyone?

I too, am a canadian and have sold on amazon for about 2 years . However, with the scattered listings, featured auctions, rotating tab and now NO TAB EVER FOR AUCTIONS, my auctions have gone downhill all the way to bottom. ie no sales! So I don't know if I can be bothered with the hazzle . The only thing that seems to be going o.k, is the marketplace and you are right Sandy they won't let you sell unless you have a us address , probably because it is a set postage rate that they give to sellers. The only way I could see of getting around it is, I have my mother-in-law's address for access to us address , I would put in her postal code and in the description, I would describe the book as good or whatever and put in big letters COMES FROM CANADA. However, when I emailed amazon "could I do this?" they never responded. So I signed up for td powerhouse bank but haven't gotten around to actually joining and jumping through more hoops. I sell on ebay and have done better lately except for some items that still sell better on amazon ie books. I don't think anything else would now ever sell on amazon. If they gave me back the tab for auctions , I would jump through the hoops for sure, and if they ( amazon big guys ) went back to items ending soonest ~ the auctions would probably soar again. But amazon and yahoo too, really are not auction sites like ebay ( though with their BIN and half.com ebay would like to pick up some more bucks here) . I am hoping that bidville will pick up some action and I could list my sellers like nancy drew or hardy boys that go so so low on ebay. Good luck sandi and I hope to check the site to see if the auctions could again make a go .

Suz--you can still sell on Zshop or Auction and set your own shipping price. The set price comes into effect only when selling on Marketplace and that is where you have to insert the USA postal code.

Actually I was responding to sandi
ie can canadians sell on markeplace if they put in a us postal code and then say in the description COMES FROM CANADA
Zazzie do you know how canadians who actually ship from canada can sell on marketplace?
Thanks Suz 23 ( lovebooks2 on amazon but I seem to have screwed up my identity there too! )

Sandie, have you changed your address on your Amazon account to the US address? And are you using the US zip code in the Marketplace ads? Only reason I ask is that I made a typo in one of my Marketplace listings for the zip code (used my old one, old foggy brain me), and the listing would not go through. Seems Amazon must correlate the zip code to the listing account to make sure it is a valid listing. Just a suggestion.

Just use the USA postal code that your Amazon payments is registered under---then take into account that you will only get $2.20 US for shipping cost---and mail the item from Canada.

THanks, Zazzie! and just a last question~ have you sold on marketplace and mailed from Canada ie do the customers get upset as it takes longer than from the u.s? Thanks again for all your help on these talk boards. Suz23

I do 'most' of my mailing from the US---but on occasion if I don't have enough to bother with the trip and the book weighs less than 250 grams I will mail from Canada. I have not had any complaints or even comments--I think Canadian surface mail travels about as fast as USA Media mail so time is not the issue.
