My theory is that one reason they increased the limit is because they plan to shut down the Bibliofind booksite and they wanted to transition those sellers to Marketplace/zShops--and many of these seller have a lot more than 5,000 volumes.

Then why did they make Bibliofind free -- which will bring in more users to be disappointed if they plan to shut it down.

I am sure that the reason why Bibliofind is free and Amazon zShops has increased its listing limit is to push Amazon's site with its A-Z Guarantee.
Now anyone and everyone will be listing on Bibliofind. The inexperienced 'sellers' will be indentifying book club editions as firsts and have no clue how to grade a book, pack, and will most likely be difficult to get a hold of by phone.
I think Amazon would like to keep Bibliofind going just for that reason...
