Does anyone know whether Marketplace listings still have the 30 day limit if you sign up for a Merchant account. Also, after the $39.95 introductory fee, does the monthly charge go up at some time?

Once you've signed up for the Merchant account, your listings will stay active until they sell. And you can set up a zShop where they will also show. The $40/month does not go up. At least not until they decide to raise the rates like they did last June: went from $10/month to $40 overnight with no warning.

thanks..looks like I'll need to figure out if I am selling at least 40 books per month to get the benefit of the waived 99 cent fee. It might be worth it to save the bother of re-listing.
But what do you do if you are on vacation? Just pick up the orders when you get back...even if that is past the 2-day shipping limit?

Yes, you'll definately want to do some math before jumping into the PM account. But if you're selling consistently, it is well worth it.
As for what to do if you go out of town for a couple of days, that's a major concern for sellers that Amazon has yet to address. A simple vacation button like half.com has would do the trick. There's been a lot of talk about this at the seller discussion board. Some people have someone take care of their business while they're gone. Some people just put on their "I'm unavailable" automatic reply on their e-mail account & explain they'll be back shortly and will fill orders then. It's a problem.

keziak, go for the Pro Merchant account! I was hesitant at first but have not regretted it one bit. I think having the listings show up in both Marketplace/Books and Z-Shops searches brings you extra business and that will help you pay for the PM account.
Oh how I wish there was a vacation feature, right now my husband and I cannot be out of town at the same time. It happened once that we were both gone for 48 hours due to an emergency, when we got back I emailed everyone about their order and then sent the books out priority mail at my expense. The books probably got there in the same amount of time if I had been there to send them media mail.
it is not a vacation feature but if you use the inventory uploader and add a SKU# to the items you can upload a duplicate to delete the listings while on vacation and upload again when back from vacation.
I use delete upload a little when I want to make a change in the listings.
on the Amazon discussion board sellers have described how they have their complete inventory from a brick and mortar store listed on Amazon. They upload an update every day deleting from Amazon listings what they sold from the store.
