I have been selling on Amazon.com since Sept of 1999. Up until 10/2000 I was selling on auctions until Amazon changed things and took the auction tab off and did not actively promote the auctions. Then they created Marketplace, which is where I sell now. I also sell on Half.com. This site has made prices very competitive and book sellers are getting much less for there books. Ialso used to sell jewelry, but have not had a sale in 6 months since the auctions died. If you are not selling books, where you can cross-link by ISBN numbers, your auctions will not sell. Also Amazon is always down, glitches, glitches, and more glitches, everyday - they lose hundreds of listings and you have to relist. I just signed up to sell on ABE and will be moving my inventory there
Give it a try...But I would not get too far into Amazon. It used to be great...Not anymore. The technical problems NEVER END. It is almost everyday that some calamity befalls you on that site. It is ridiculous. used to be great.....

Hi Amazon is good for selling books
I used to sell on amazon for about 2 years ( just when they started up) It was great for me , though all the auctions sites were probably doing better than what is now happening on the auction scene.
Then amazon changed to featured auctions showing up only and you had to click to get auctions ending soon , plus did away with the auction tab on front page of their site etc etc. As a canadian I had to get a us account in the us. Signed up with one bank~ they lost the paperwork and I finally phoned after 4 weeks and then finally got too discouraged as Amazon didn't seem interested at all in auctions or promoting auctions. However, for the first time in the past year ( when they started their stupid featured auctions to be seen at all ! I noticed in most categories especially children's books, no one is even using featured so I guess Amazon didn't even make money using that feature!) THERE IS NOW A SMALL BUT NOTICABLE CHANGE IE AT THE TOP OF THE FEATURED AUCTIONS THEY SHOW 2 ENDING NOW AUCTIONS AND A LINK TO ALL THE OTHER AUCTIONS ENDING! Small but could be a signicant improvement.
THerefore , my advice ( limited though it is , though I seem to still make a fair income on the auctions.) Ebay is good for high sellers , ex library children's books, some romances ,
Amazon is good for selling Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, many romances ( far better price than ebay but you might have to wait till someone finds you.
Amazon would be great as an auction scene if they put back the tab!!!!
Less fees than ebay and I think a better layout ie photos ect.
This is just an opinion of a very minor player on the auction scene~ a hobby ~ though after boxing up 2000 books this weekend ~ a nightmare~ how did I get so many books but I want to go garage hunting and can't find any more room in the house!
Good luck and you can make money on Amazon if you are selling books. Suz23 here only!
I'm working on a story about Amazon's auction site and would love to talk with about your recent experience in selling on Amazon. Please contact me at [email protected].

again Troy? aren't you the same person that asked AW users to contribute comments before and then those users weren't happy with the way you presented their comments???
