A few weeks ago I decided to add a new twist to my email.

Every auction related (even remotely auction related) email I send out now is signed with:

Check out my newest listings!

(Then a clickable link to my auction page)

I have definitely noticed an increase in bids - and in bidding wars (my favorite part)

Also, I often have multiples of the same item, so when the auction ends I email a clickable link of the new auction listing to any losing bidders. Most of them actually email me back to thank me - and then bid!

This is probably old news to most of you - but, since I finally thunk of it, thought I'd share.

Good idea and it works but you may get accused of spam for mailing the losing bidders. Depends on who interprets at eBay - they are not real consistant.

Good point on the spam - I send those notices out with "Thank you for your interest in my auctions" so they'll know that I'm not sending them something out of the blue. Personally, I wouldn't consider it spam since they bid on my auction. Some might though.

Great tip, mybiddness.
THIS is why I keep returning to these message boards.
Thank you!

That is good marketing I do it also in all my auction related e-mails. My marketing teacher in college taught me well : ). I also include bookmarkers in all my auction packages. It is a very inexpensive way of advertising and heavy weight paper isn't that expensive. I make them up during the slow season and make sure I have plenty for the busy retail time (official start is suppose to be Sept. 5th) and of course I put a business card in each package I send out also.

I also have my auction links in the signing of my e-mails. Below the name and I also have links to my auctions on my home page and my auctions also direct my buyers to my homepage. It is a great way to get found on the net and to pick up more revenue.

I did one time get an e-mail from a seller I USED to buy stained glass from. There was no reason for the e-mail, but to tell people to check out her new auctions she put up. It was a slow time of year. She sent it out to a lot of people. This turned me the wrong way. For one she should have asked people if she is going to save the addresses if they want to be put on a mailing list. Number two I didn't like that all the addresses were there for all to see and I scrolling through tons of addresses to see the message. I don't buy from this seller anymore. I guess there is a good way and a bad way to do things.

I know of a guy that got his auction name etc put on key chains and sends them out with most of his packages. It seems he has had good success with it. At least that is what one of his customers told me when I got talking to her at a local good will. She was tickled pink to have hers and they also worked as light flashlights.

Happy Labor day to all
Tracey

WOW Im glad you know that I have been telling all this on these boards for months

it works and its not spam if your inviteing someone back to where they have already showed interest.

even if you went in walmarts and bought nothing you would get a smile and in your mail box they still send flyers inviteing you back to there new sale.

I have only heard the wacko activest complan about this type of business pratice most read the walmart ad and toss it in a recycleing bin or trash like what they see or not they will end up at walmart more then likely buy something sale priced or not walmart is always keeps in new and past cutomers eyes and is most sucessfull .
