I shipped a $200 watch via USPS last month, and it never arrived. I'm filing an insurance claim with USPS and I am required to provide proof of the value of the watch. Is a printout of the auction page good enough proof?

I just got a letter back from the post office saying that the printout of the auction page isn't acceptable as proof of value. I have no other proof, so what am I supposed to use??

My Post Office will not accept a printout of an Ebay auction. They have an affidavit you can fill out in lieu of a receipt or cancelled check. Make sure you deal with a designated claims clerk instead of the clerk at the window.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I guess it depends on the Post Office you go to. My PO accepted a printout of the auction page... it ended up taking over a month, but the guy finally got his check. This was for a broken item... so maybe it is different with a lost item.

When I filed I gave them a printout and filled out their form. They sent that form to the buyer who filled out his part and supplied a copy of his check.
Then the Post Office works their magic and in 4-6 weeks you receive a Postal Money Order from them.
