Has anybody else had this problem? My friend listed an auction, and had a starting bid on the third day. On the last day, along came a sniper. The snipe won. YAY!, right? Wrong..When my friend sent the snipe an EOA notice, they replied back with "HI, sorry, I don't want this, my bid was placed by accident." ummm... S'cuse me?? How do you bid on something by ACCIDENT? This is a user who has a 0 feedback, BUT is not *new*, no sunglasses. Any suggestions on how my friend should deal with this Yawhoo??

you *could* jump, shout, and pull your hair out, but it wouldn't do any good. this person probably has bidder's remorse--there's not a great chance that it was an 'accident', unless the cat jumped on her keyboard <sarcasm>. file for your fvf, give them a negative, and either offer the item to the next highest seller or relist it.
uh huh. that's what i thought!
edited because i fat fingered my spelling.

Well, it depends. I had a customer who placed a winning bid on one of my auctions this last Summer and a few hours before it closed, he discovered that it wasn't exactly what he thought it was and sent to me an e-mail asking that I remove his bid (he was fairly new).
Well, that was on a Friday and I didn't end up receiving his e-mail until the following Tuesday! (@Home mail service!) So I sent out the usual EOAB and received a somewhat miffed reply. I politely wrote back that it was never within our power to grant such a thing, that it was between he and eBay, and if he had wanted to do so, he should have done it before the auction closed.
Did I press him to make good on it? Yes! I was kind about it, but I informed him that I was not going to let it drop. My choice.
P.s. he paid and was exremely happy with the item once he saw it in person and gave us glowing positive feedback!
