I used to be all hyper about feedback. Like hey! Why didn't they leave some? I've come to a point tho that I don't think about it much at all.

This one that I didnt get kinda bugs me tho. See my bidder was a bit late in sending payment; emailed me that there was a death in the family and he just got back in town from the funeral. I said no prob don't worry bout it. When the payment came I threw in an extra item of the same type (wanted to cheer him I guess) and sent it off. He sent an email about how thrilled he was and all that kinda stuff like that there.....

But...... still no feedback. I'm a bit petty I guess, but it bothers me a little.

Well, I've answered my own thoughts here by reading what I wrote. He is no doubt still grieving and feedback would be the last thing on his mind.

Sheeesh I am petty!

Now now, no need to be so hard on yourself!

I would wait for 30 days and write him again with a cheerful note saying that I hope he was doing better and and throw in a gentle reminder about the feedback. If it bothers you that much, this would be the best way, in my opinion.

You are right not to worry about feedback too much, but it is nice to get the credit for what you do!

I can understand where you are coming from. It is a little irritating to go above and beyond for a buyer and never receivea feedback as thanks. I had one 2 years ago that I still remember. I had 2 auctions end with the same high bidder. Within 30 seconds of second auction ending, buyer contacted me asking if he oculd pay by credit card and get it shipped TODAY. I called the guy and it seemed he wanted this for a birthday and would I be willing to ship overnight express to texas. I told the guy it would be no problem but would have to make 2 charges on his credit card. Once to pay for the items and a second time after I came back from the post office for the shipping. It was now 4:30 so I quickly boxed up his stuff (even taking the time to gift wrap them for him), ran the credit card and hurried to the post office, making it with 1 minute to spare. The guy wrote the next day to say he the presents had arrived on time and he was very happy with the extra effort. That was the last I heard from him. I never did receive any type of feedback at all from him. I just chalked that one up a job well done and left it at that.

Yep, the only feedbacks that bug me are the ones I didn't get after falling all over myself to make things *really right* for a customer.

There was one who felt it was taking too long to ship (even though she'd sent a check and my TOS for checks states ALL OVER the place that it will delay shipping, and it was well within the time fram) so since I felt she was unhappy and I didn't want that, even though I KNEW I was not "in the wrong", I apologized and refunded shipping and sent it along with her package. No feedback left from her.

The others have been Canadian buyers, and I always wonder if they are "disgruntled" because of the time it takes for their package to get from here to there and somehow blame me but never *ask* and just don't leave feedback at all. These bug me too because I ship their items just as quickly as anyone else's.

I know what you mean; it bugs the @#%* out of me when I have what I consider an excellent transaction and I leave glowing feedback and. . . .NOTHING!!
Now, I check to see what kind and the amount of feedback that they have left for others. When they've left next to nothing for others, well, I just chalk it up to plain old laziness and ungratefulness!

Let's not blame just the Buyers for failing to post Feedback. Case in point:

My mother recently decided to jump on board and became a new Registered User on ebay. She was seeking an old Photo Editor so that she could see all the reels of 8mm and 16mm tape of her deceased parents from the 30's and 40's.

Mom not only found one she liked but, after many emails asking my advice, took a deep breath, bid, and eventually won.

She was so excited and I guided her as to what to do next. The proper contact with the Seller was made, the item was paid for promptly, and Mom received her Editor in a timely fashion.

She has had a ball going through all these movies and is thrilled with the transaction. As I have trained her well, she also left glowing Feedback for the Seller.

A week or so after the transaction, Mom still hadn't received any Feedback. She sent a small email telling the Seller that she appreciated the ease of her "first" transaction, had left him Feedback, and hoped he would take the time to post her (very important) "first" Feedback. The Seller replied that it had been a pleasure to have been of service and that he, indeed, would post her "first" Feedback.

That was months ago. No Feedback. Oh well.

I've had a few occasions where someone said they left me feedback but it never showed up. What happens, on occasion, is that someone will leave you feedback by replying to the feedback that you left them. I guess they don't realize that it's not the same thing.

You can determine if this has happened by scanning all the feedback you have left, looking for responses.

What amazes me is when the buyer takes the time to send a nice long thank you thank you thank you email to me but never leaves feedback.

I've also had lots of times that a buyer will ask me to leave feedback when I already did?

ACK!

So many times they either leave feedback in their own feedback responses thinking that it's feedback for your file OR they leave it for the wrong person, especially when there are more than one person with similar ID's. This happened to me in the beginning and after checking their "feedback left" files, I found feedback intended for me in other people's files.

Re: comment from mtnmama --

Hmmm - strange... A while back in one of my "experimentive" moods, I decided to leave feedback for the wrong person on purpose!! Yeah, I did - really <grin>... BUT, eBay wouldn't allow it!! Tried it different ways - nearly the same Item number; Nope!! Misspelled the Username; Nope!! I have no idea how someone can leave your feedback in someone elses file; it's beyond me...
Cheers! Herb

I have noticed that the buyers who take the time to write a nice email are less likely to leave feedback, or don't leave feedback that reflects the exuberance of their email. It is a little frustrating, but I am just glad they were happy.

The feedback is more important to me as an indication that that transaction was completed successfully. I leave feedback when payment is received, and most of my buyers leave feedback for me. When I don't receive either feedback or email, I wonder whether the buyer was disappointed or displeased, but not enough to communicate this to me.
