I heard around town that you sell sheet music on eBay. I just inherited about a six inch stack of really old sheet music (1930's and 1940's). I'm planning on selling it on eBay. Any advice? Do you use a scanner or the digital camera?

Hey im not james but I would think that due to the size of the gif or jpg would make for scanning full pages that if you have a digtial or good instant or 35 MM camera would be better.

I have found that even though you can decress document size scans they tend to distort badly when they are crunched less then half there full size.

when it comes to this type of item your discription of the sheet music date names and condition will be of more value then a distorted picture.

there is a few others I have seen talk about the selling and value of old sheet music on this board hopefully one will come by and have more to add.

I have seen this here unanswered all day so I had to look see what it was nosy me

Hey Muriel. Actually, I use a scanner. Just be sure to resize the image. It does not need to be full-size. Scan at 72 dpi (as you should do with any images). Make sure to include the artist's name, and title. Describe condition i.e. fair, good, very good, excellent. If you have problems deciding how to grade (which is reasonable -- you have to get some experience with it) then compare them to each other and try to see what's in what condition. With 50+ year old sheet music, odds are that none of them are better than "very good". Also, you never know what anything is worth. There's no reason to start an auction at $2, when people will pay $6 or $10. Browse the categories. List them individually, not in a lot.

Good luck!

James.
