HI all - Has anyone used this inexpensive camera and can it do the job for auction photos? I already know that there are many superior digital cameras, but so far I have been reluctant to invest the bucks in them.

It does crappy closeups with poor focus! I tried one for work, and the pictures were unusable. I could only take FIVE pictures before unloading.
If all you do is snapshots of kids birthday parties, it's OK.
If you want a camera that takes superb closeups under not-so-ideal conditions, get the MAVICA. You can shoot about 100 pictures (over 4 floppies full) before ti needs recharging.

Speaking of Mavica's, has anyone seen their newest entry into the Digital world? It is the MVC-CD1000.
I writes to a 156mb 3 inch cd-r! It takes about 4 seconds to "write" each pic to the cd-r, has a 10X optical zoom, 20X with digital zoom, an MPEG movie mode with sound, Steady Shot image stabilization, and a partridge in a pear tree.
List price is $1300,
