I just received this email and I don't get it. I am a very sypathetic person, but I just really don't quite get it...This is word for word:
Because I have a learning problem that manifests itself when I am dealing
with numbers, abbreviations, symbols, nonsense words, etc., I have to keep my records a certain way.
In order to keep my records straight, I use carbon checks with ALL
information on the face of the check. However, if it's not too
inconvenient for you, you can take the check to a Bank of America to cash
and the amount will immediately be subtracted from my account. Bank of
America is EVERYwhere. Doing so could immensely speed things up.
However, I accept whatever works best for you.
When communicating via e-mail, please ALWAYS paste all previous communications onto the new e-mail. I appreciate that a great deal. I
can pay immediately if I can FIND all pertinent information ALL ON THE SAME PAGE.
I use AW post management, and if they clicked on the link, all the info is on the same page. And I have been is sales a LONG time and I have never heard of a check that is only negotiable at one bank, or am I reading this wrong?

You are reading this wrong, IMO.
What the customer is trying to say is that IF you take his check to a Bank of America branch, it can be CASHED right to you, therefore, making payment/shipment that much faster.

Maybe what she means is that if you take the check to Bank of America they can see from her account that the funds are there and you can get cash immediately. If you take it to another bank you probably have to deposit it and they put a hold on it until it clears.
I had to play this game when I had a shop and a check bounced on me. Because it was a very small town and they knew me, the manager would call the other bank and find out if the funds were there and then they would deposit the check as cash into my account.

also if the money is taken out of their account right away it might make it easier on them to keep their checkbook straight.

But what are carbon checks, that have All information on the front of the checks? All checks have ALL information on the front of the checks. I have carbon checks, and all they are are carbon copies to keep for you records.

I think you are reading this wrong to I think the person is telling you they have a learning disabilty when it comes to math and keeping things straight.
I think they are saying they will pay with a check from the bank of america, but they would like you to cash it there.
so it is deducted from there account now cshed so it wont be outstanding for a month or so cause they will have trouble keeping this straight after that long.
they are also asking you send your reply underthe letter they sent so they wil be reminded what it is about when they get it.
I beleave the nonsense they speak of is dealing with other buyers who cant understand short term memory loss and the trouble they have dealing with everyday life month take for granted
they could just be another wacko bidder but with the amount of info you gave here I would tend to doubt they are.

My son is what they called a slow learner when he was in school and i think a lot of us just don't realize how hard it is for them to grasp some things. I know sometimes i would forget and get upset when he didn't understand or remember after telling him a number of times.
He is a lot better now but sometimes we have to look at it from their point of view.

I understand about learning diabilities, I have worked with autistic and developmentally impaired adults and I do not take anything for granted. I just did not understand what they were talking about with carbon checks, which I still don't, but now I get the point about cashing the checks, which I still can't do, because we do not have one of their banks in my area. Thanks for the help.

I think what she means about the carbon check is that it is a copy for her to remind herself what she wrote it for. I don't think it was meant that you had to do something with it.

lorndav-
WARNING! I have accounts with Bank of America, but if I didn't they WOULD charge me a service fee to cash the check at the tellers window. This is a common policy of theirs to ANYONE cashing a check drawn on their bank if the person cashing the check does not have an account with them.
They will still take other banks checks for deposit without a service fee, but you would still have to wait and see if it clears.
I do wonder why she wants you to cash it instead of deposit it though. Maybe wants the item in hurry before she forgets that she bought it? And no, that is NOT a slam against your buyer, to be clear. Gawd knows ALL of us have our problems to deal with.
