Well, it's morning, and I still can't buy anything on Half.com!

Last night I tried to place an order and I got various messages ... Unix error 111 the server is not running ... sorry, your session has timed out - continue shopping?, etc.

So I wrote down the names of everything in my cart (because the cart automatically dumps after about an hour or so ... REALLY annoying ...) and this morning I log back in and search for all the items again and put them in my cart and go to checkout and BANG

same stupid errors!

There is no message on Half.com's Announcement Board - no indication that there is a problem whatsoever! I have made four purchases over the weekend and had no problem, and I've changed nothing on my system - but just to be sure, I double-checked everything ... and just for fun I went over to amazon.com and bought another book - my computer is working fine -

Half.com obviously has a problem -
hmmmmmmm....
maybe the half part is you only get to complete half the process ... you can look but can't buy?? ( wicked grin )

Does anyone know where Half.com's problems are reported? Does anyone really care ...

Well, I guess I should have come here and
complained sooner ...

I was just able to complete my order.
From my point of view, their shopping
cart checkout was down for at least
12 hours ...

Was anyone able to purchase items from
Half.com overnight ... say, between
11 PM last night and 10 this morning?
Did any sellers get orders overnight?
Inquiring minds want to know ...

I've been seller at Half.com for about five months now, and have had the same sort of problems. They never post any problems on the announcement page (Apparently, that page is for telling you about new features). Not only that, but when you do have a problem, it's like pulling teeth to try to get them to reply back to you! The one thing that really irks me is that they reimburse the seller only a percentage of the shipping charges that the buyer pays on an item. For example..Half.com will charge the purchaser of a cd $1.95 for shipping, but they will only give the seller $1.58 in return. In a nutshell-they are profiting off of the shipping as well. I'm not saying that there are not any good points about Half.com, but they do have some negative issues to work out.

I am still awaiting my first order from Half and so far as I can tell there is absolutely nothing to recommend this site unless they have something nobody else does. I sell books on Yahoo that I might otherwise have put on half. I can offer much faster order processing, especially with PayPal and my customers know they won't be waiting long to hear from me.
