What would be your reaction to this auction outcome.
Won the auction with the highest bid on a "No Reserve" item.
Seller emailed requesting shipping address in order to give shipping quote. I responded with the info the same day.
Nine days later no response from seller. So I emailed again saying "I replied to your email on 25 July, have you got the postage quote yet?"
Five days later still no response from seller. So I emailed again saying "I replied to your first email on 25 July and emailed you again on 4 August. Have you got the shipping quote yet?"
Next day received this email:
I sent three letters out now.
Whatever is happening , im sorry. but i havent any idea whats going on.
"I am leaving the internet, Too many viruses and crap like this,
That XXXXXX cost me 1500.00 And frankly 53.00 isnt going to cut it with
the delays now,"
I replied with:
"I'm sorry that you feel unable to proceed. If you wanted more than $53 you should have put a reserve on the unit.
I have left feedback and it is not positive."
Here is the feedback I left and the response"
Complaint: Seller decided not to proceed, says winning bid not high enough (no reserve)!!
Response: Im sick of idiots!! Goodbye Ebay , I cant please JERKS,
I then received this email from the seller:
Fine,, whatever #*!@..
I would have given you the f***ing XXXXX But after seeing the negative
feedback , tough luck. LAST TIME I DEAL WITH ANYONE!!!
So go f**k yourself,
no need to reply. your whole ISP has been filtered,,
I have put in the asterisks and X's!!
Ebay unfortunately were unable to help.
Should I have left the negative feedback in the first place?

You did the right thing! If seller didn't want to sell that low, they should've used a reserve. Telling you that he would have given it to you is just his way of annoying you, I'm sure.

Face it ... they willnever answer another email because it never occurred to them that their $1500 item wouldn't bring them $15,000 at auction.

I don't think the negative makes a difference either way. You can't compell someone to turn something in his posession over to you. If this person is truly "leaving the internet" then feedback is totally meaningless to him anyway.
If it made you feel a little better, then sure, it was worth it.

I have met with sellers like this one. Never had one speak so ignorant. Just go on, there is another sunshine and another tommorrow. I give ample time and go on, don't beat yourself up over this. Great buying and selling awaits you.

Deadbeat sellers are like deadbeat buyers. Primarily, you just have to move on, there's not a lot of punishment you can deliver.

My personal thanks to guthrie for moving another deadbeat seller off of ebay! Sellers like that give all of the rest of us the bad name that we do not deserve. You did right in filing the negative, and if a seller cam't comprehend how to run an auction they deserve what they get. IMHO.

I too, applaud you...! It sounds like my "Seller from Hell", from a few weeks ago...Same personality, temper and foul language...
