I am thinking about using U-Pic to Insure my packages. I see it is required that you have the buyers phone number. How do you go about asking them for their phone number? Has anyone refused to give you your phone number?
Also, do you like this service? Is it worth it? Thanks in advance!

netsurfer2-- I just got off the phone with
u-pic going over their services with them.
They had a customer service rep call me back almost immediately. No mention of needing customers phone numbers, they went over everything with me, answered all of my questions and then some. Really nice on the phone and very willing to help. Give them a call they were super, I was extremely please with overview of the service they offer and the immediate customer service response I received.

I don't think the customer's phone number is required when using USPS. I use U-Pic and love it. So easy! I did submit a claim yesterday, and from what I understand, it's likely my rates will go up. Of course I hope they don't, but even if they do it'll still be easier, and likely cheaper than USPS insurance.

The customer phone number is required only when you're buying insurance through U-PICs online program for casual shippers.
If you sign up for the Stamp program or offline program where you fill out a manifest, you don't need the customer's phone number.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all of the kind comments.
The last poster was absolutely correct. A phone number is only necessary if you ship using our on line system and do not use DC. Anyone can use our on line system and without an account history or further information our underwriter requires the telephone number. It is not required for any account holders or UPS or Fed-EX or USPS with DC shipments.
Borght,
Hi, I hope all is well with you. If you would like to e-mail me direct I can review your account and see if an increase is likely. By filing one claim your account will not be increased - unless that one claim exceeds a year's worth of premiums. Let me know the amount of the claim and I will review and get back with you today. Our insurance runs like car insurance - if you get tickets and accidents rates go up as does ours if your claims increase significantly in proportion to your monthly payment.
If anyone has any further questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me direct, post here or contact me on my toll free direct line.
Edited to add:
Even if your rates were to go up we will keep your name on file and review at the 6 month mark. If your claims have decreased you can be approved to go back down to the standard rate of .40 cents per $100.
