I just love eBay's EOA notices. I just received one this morning in which eBay tells buyer and seller to contact each other within 3 business days. The only problem is that the auction in question ended on Sept. 4th, the items have aready been paid for and shipped. Thanks for your help eBay. What would we do without you?

Of my last 20 auctions, I received EOAs for 7 of them. And those were several days late.

If eBay can't get the EOAs out in a timely manner, or in most cases can't get them out at all, then they just shouldn't bother. It can be confusing to a bidder who has already paid for and received their item!

The crazy thing is, they aren't even coming in chronological order. Have some of them been floating around in cyberspace for a period of time? Last evening, I got most of the EOA notices on the stuff that closed yesterday. This morning I got several EOA's for auctions that ended days ago, some of which has already been shipped and probably received.

Don't ever depend upon eBay's EOA to get the transaction rolling! I did at first, but when eBay was being 6 days late and Buyers were screaming at me to get the transaction going, I swore to never to depend on them again!

Do it at your own risk!

Borillar:

You sure have that right! I have already received payment and shipped the items in the auction referenced above. And this all happened 2 days before receiving eBay's EOA. eBay should just stop sending this junk as it gets to be confusing sometimes.

It's kind of weird. I've been receiving dozens of them today from a week ago, paid for, sent, feedback left. I have to wonder if this is because of their new, improved giving out our phone numbers scheme?

Normally I would just delete them, but since it coincides with these other annoyances, I have to wonder.

If we read eBay's AB on a daily basis we would know that they had a problem which caused a back log on EOA's of up to 6-8 days.

Stuff happens and we just have to learn to quit complaining about such things and find alternative routes to do what we have to do.

Yeah, stuff happens. Problems occur. Problems can be fixed. This particular problem is not only not being fixed, it seems to be getting progressively worse. I received a nasty email last week from a bidder because she had already paid for an auction and received the merchandise before eBay sent her the EOA. She thought it was an attempt by me to get her to pay again. I just barely avoided a neg over it.

Here's a part of a letter I sent a seller Wed
The bones ached a bit more than usual this morning so I wasn't able to get to the post office till 1pm but the <snip> was shipped and is indeed on it's way, I'm guessing Friday or Saturday you should have it.

Here's the delivery confirmation information:
Your item was delivered at 12:08 pm on September 8 in OAKLAND TN 38060.

Here's a letter I got from eBay this afternoon on that same auction at 1:56pm.
"Congratulations - this auction successfully ended <snip> *The buyer and seller should contact each other within three business days to complete the sale. Not getting in touch leaves the contract in limbo and can earn you negative feedback."

Buyer, Seller, USPS, are all through with the transaction before eBay tells us the auction is over! eBay's EOA is just spam at this rate.
