A different outfit all together? I have inserted automaticall in my AW preferences that I take payments with x.com thinking that would automatically insert PayPal logos....If they are 2 different entities, I will have to go and take them out of my auctions before I get any bids...Help!

Hi,
Just to clarify....X.com is the corporation. Within the corporation there is a banking product (x.com) and a payment product (paypal).

No they are not! XCom is a banking corporation that owns PayPal a service that allows individuals and businesses to collect and/or pay each other with the use of a credit card or debit card.
Each has it's own logo's to use.
You can be a part of PayPal and not a part of XCom if you don't have a checking account with them.
One cannot use XCom thinking they'll get the money thru Paypal and vice-versa.
They are two seperate entities and one can only use them if you belong to each one.

I just noticed yesterday that x.com is no longer allowing credit card deposits into their checking accounts. This was a surprise to me and I had received no notification about this change by email or snail mail. (I get 1 paper mailing from them per month)
They now require that you go through their bank account verification process to verify another bank account to make transfers from. No more card deposits. This is not at all like the verification process for PayPal. This requires you to mail or fax a signed form along with a voided check and copy of your driver's license. They do not offer the deposit amount verification that PayPal does.
Since they are both under the umbrella of First Western Bank I don't think this bodes well for what we might be seeing on PayPal soon. Since we have gone through this "verification" process at PayPal and have firmly locked in bank account information, I would not be surprised if we soon discover that the credit card aspect has disappeared when it comes to depositing money into the PayPal account and now must tranfer funds from the bank account on file.

that depends on the local access server as x.com explained it to me, in maryland when i tried to link the 2 sites i was sent to the x.com home page, in fla. i went to a paypal site, keep this in mind if you can not log into x.com with your paypal login you will NOT recieve your payments...

TMC- I noticed this too. Right under where you put your login at paypal, click on the x.com link and you will go to your x.com account.
I figured x.com would stop the credit card deposit. It was too easy for people to get 'cash advances' without paying the credit card fee's. I just transfer my paypal deposits to x.com and then write x.com checks to get the monies... alot easier than electronic transfers.

WOW - I signed up for PayPal, got verified, have been receiving a lot of payments and transfering funds to my own bank account.
Thought I understood the process.
Read this thread and now I'm completely confused.
Anyone have PayPalDamons home number?

HI restonray,
Shoot me an email to [email protected] with any questions. The information in this thread does not appear to have anything to do with verification.

Thanks PPDamon - I really have no present problems but was considering expanding my usage of PP/x.com to bank account/debit card etc. This thread confused me and I will go back to your site and work thru the process step by step.
The 'Home phone number" comment wasn't actually in relationship to any present need of mine but rather a cheap shot at eBay's recent suggestion that if customers have any questions just call the seller at home before the transaction.
I do appreciate your quick response, the offer of assistance and the suggestion I use email which is sound and logical and in contrast to eBay's most recent stupidity.

For Damon's home phone Number, I suggest you contact Ebay...I am certain they will be more than happy to accommodate you...(tongue-in-cheek, of course... )

Hi reston_ray,
Thanks! Just as an FYI, paypal is planning on launching debit cards as part of the product offering (as well as a whole host of other products to assist sellers).
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions.
