I hardly ever check into this board anymore because I am so sick of reading posts from Sellers who are sick of the way eBay is treating them.
All I have to say to you is "Keep on Doing What You're Doing" and you're going to "Keep on Getting What You're Getting!"
I think there was one post here on September 1st from one eBay seller who had done something positive in support of the MAM.
It seems the majority of the rest of you would rather do nothing but whine about eBay.
Well, my sympathy for you has dried up completely.
If you're going to keep going back to eBay for more slaps in the head, then please, do the rest of us a favor and QUIT YOUR WHINING!!!!!
Better yet, do something productive to support another site.
End of hissy fit!

Well im not claiming to be all up on it but as I understand it MAM is the million auction March one of there goals is to get a million auction from sellers pull off ebay in the next month and listed to other auction sights.
This all in protest to change at ebay that are hurting sellers and to show ebay that its not a sure thing that they will be there number #1 as an action venue no matter what they do .

Oh I get it. Pull off ebay for a month, sacrifice all the decent sales I could have made and give it away for nothing on another site just to prove a point. I don't think I'll be participating in that, thank you.

AnnieJean, what you fail to realize is that when the bill of rights is finally amended to insure that "life must be fair", whining will become a constitutional right. Better get used to it.

If you want to champion this cause, go for it. But it'll never get off the ground. At least not in the numbers you're hoping for.
I'm a working man, not a philanthropist. Giving up 1/12 of my income (oh, it will be much more than 1/12 because it takes time to get rolling again) sounds like an insane idea to me.
Good luck to you however.

Yeah! Love it or leave it!
Just like those damn Vietnam War protesters. They shoulda done something constructive, instead of complaining about us bombing the hell outa Cambodia.
And how about those UAW union guys, complaining about the working conditions in on the assembly lines? If the workers don't like it, they should quit, not organize! Whiners!
Oh! And Cesar Chavez! Now THERE's a whiner. We let those illegals come into our country to pick our lettuce, and they have the nerve to demand better working conditions and a reasonable wage? How dare they!
Martin Luther King? Don't even get me started on that guy! Sheez!
And how about those founding fathers, whiners all! England wasn't good enough? And what's with that pesky Bill of Rights? Boy, was THAT was a mistake! A right to free speech? Ha! That was the start of the whole "whiner" problem in this country!
I'm with ya, AnnieJean!

Thanks for your wonderful comparison of apples and oranges. Ebay is probably the best thing to happen to probably 3/4 of the active sellers. It has given sellers country, and in some cases, global markets. But still, people complain because of the unwillingness to adapt. Ebay has to adapt everyday to their growing business, sometimes doing it well and sometimes not so well, but god forbid if the sellers should try to understand their problems. I mean most run such huge operations from the luxury of their own homes and employ thousands....I mean.....themselves.

Seperating the message from any discussion of the messanger, I took this advise several months back.
Use YAHOO as my choice but a number of sites are available. It isn't an either or. I do both Y and eBay. Had $342. of 1st Bid Wins sales yesterday on Y. Much better than usual but not the best day I've had. Inventory cost were about 46% and no fees.
I'm a small seller with few listings so that a good day and a nice addition to the overall week.
Look, try, find what works for you. eBay could be down for a week or my listings closed over a misunderstanding and I would only be inconvienced not out of business.
eBay is the best overall site in my opinion but not being completely dependent upon them has had many positive results for me.
More sales, more profit and more peace of mind go a long way to making this whole business enjoyable again.
PS (edit) I also whine alot because I don't like the direction the present top management is taking eBay and will stomp my foot until Meg changes, is fired or I die. I want all of eBay, the stockholders, managers, staff and users to again come together and proceed on to a place of greatness which can be it's destiny. Or not. Plus I've never been big on standing by and watching what I consider bullies abusing people.

I have to say it just takes someone saying the wrong thing to get things stired up. These message boards are a great way to relieve stress who else will listen when you complain about a bidder or a seller? most of the people I know do not use the auctions so they do not understand , most of the stuff that goes on over here just about every seller has had to deal with or will have to deal with, if you want to complain about something, brag about something you bought, or a new way to list things or in my case need help this is the place to be

I am not part of a sorry lot...
I sell on eBay and make money. Yes I reserve the right to voice my opinion and ideas about eBay where and when it is appropriate. I have more than 25 years of business experience and know what I am talking about. My feedback offers proof of that fact.
I am not sick of eBay. I do think they need a clue phone from time to time--few businesses do sufficient reality checks when they become very successful.
I am sick of people who think that abandoning a business that has ten times the traffic of others is the right way to increase their own. Don't they own a calculator?
Yes, I use Yahoo too and like it. But I am not going to ditch eBay.
The only one whining is you AnnieJean...by your own admission.

I dont think the Idea of MAM over all was to ditch ebay totally just to start sales and get rateing at 1 or more other sights
no one said Ebay is not good or dont work but that we all need more then one venue for sales.
The web unfortunately is full of pit falls time is money ebay has scheduled down time. then there is server failures. search failures update failure unexsepted break downs and they are starting to feel all mighty
they charge you listing fee for 3 5 7 and 10 day listings .25 or a dollar for this time then over your time you find that buyer were unable to veiw or bid 20 or 40 or even 72 hours in that time ouch to the 3 day auction in the week there is 72 down time with a dollars listing .
less compalnts would happen if you had sales going on another site like yahoo for free
list your stuff on ebay one or two times no bids send it to yahoo list it there if no bid move it maybe to amazon or a personal web site of your own paypal and services like this give us freedom to sell are goods in many places.
lay off the complaining ebay is good but not the only way and for many Items not even the best way.
some times even gaints need to be knocked down a peg or two make them take a look and realize they are not imortal and they can lose if they are not wise and carefull.
MAM has nothing to do with dropping ebay cold and giveing up perfectly good sales
I am not a MAM suporter I didnt even know about MAM till I read a thread or to here about it a few days ago but this is what I gathered of it.

Dman,
Check this out: I sometimes list items in ebay for ten days and at the same time in Yahoo for three days with a buyprice. If it sells in yahoo, I cancel in ebay. I don't apply for any refund of listing fees.
It's kinda' fun, actually.

OOOOHHHH krs, you are wicked cool!
Twice the exposure on the same quarter! I nominate that as Tip of the Day!
The only problem is those hesitant bidders that put you on watch and then moan when you cancel! I would hate to answer all of those WHINERS.
Wasn't that a cunning stunt!

From the variety of responses here, I see that many of you have missed my point.
Sure, I worded the title 'a bit harshly', well, okay, very harshly, but I was trying to make a point.
That point being for sellers to quit whining about the way eBay is treating you and do something constructive about it.
I did not recommend that anyone join MAM, I merely pointed out that at least one seller made an attempt to deal constructively with the problems on eBay by supporting MAM rather than just sitting back and going back for more slaps in the head from the policy makers at eBay.
I also don't advocate NOT discussing eBay's treatment of you, and was quite interested to see how we got from whining about eBay's mistreatment of sellers to Vietnam, etc.
It's the non-productive whining that I am on about. Complain all you want - I do it myself and it feels good, but go beyond that and make another 'venue' for yourselves as well. And let the rest of us know what you are doing so that everyone benefits from your individual approach to eBay's injustices! Ray has the right idea (and at least he has a nice way of explaining it And krs is at least having a bit of fun with this.
Now y'all can go ahead and kick me some more in response to my kick in the pants to sellers, but please, after you get your feathers unruffled, do something constructive about the way eBay is treating you! And post it here so that we can all take some encouragement from it!
