Why don't they want you to know this? Cause they say they aren't set up to handle live/phone customer support BUT they think EVERY SELLER should be ready willing and able to do so. Sounds a bit bonkers to me...
Oh, and the info is at the TAG site www.auctionguild.com click on left toolbar - ebaY contact info. -Rosalinda

ebaY's hypocrisy is patent in this email to a poster on the ebaY boards
---------------------------------
Hello,
This is a formal request that you discontinue the practice of offering
directions eBay's phone number to other members on eBay's boards. Since
eBay is not geared to offer phone support, encouraging members to make use
of corporate phone numbers (which are often incorrect as well), only leads
to misunderstandings and frustration on all sides. We therefore ask that
you not utilize eBay's boards for these purposes and your post has been
removed.
While we appreciate your efforts to assist others, for the most timely
response, members should be directed contact us using our online web form
found at: http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/select-support.html and we will
be very happy to assist. This form allows requests to be more efficiently
handled and directed to the proper departments.
----------------------------------------
ebaY does not want THEIR numbers posted or get phone calls, but they are happy to encourage buyers to get YOURSand call YOU!!!
INCREDIBLE!!!

Wow, this just floors me. Then again, my opinion of eBay was already hovering somewhere in the basement. So where does their image go now?
I have no more words left at this moment, I really don't.

The ABSOLUTE GALL!!!....
Since eBay is not geared to offer phone support, encouraging members to make use of corporate phone numbers (which are often incorrect as well), only leads to misunderstandings and frustration on all sides.
But it's perfectly alright for them to hand out our phone numbers, whether or not WE are "geared to offer phone support"....The AUDACITY!
I say we (anyone unhappy with this new brainstorm!) start a PHONE IN CAMPAIGN!...Get the numbers and spend the day just adialin'! & adialin'...all day & all night!!!...Yeah, they've got answering machines & they can use 'em, but the shear volume that could be produced would tie up their phone lines REAL GOOD!!!....
As always....JMHO

You mean to tell me that a company with the financial resources that Ebay has cannot afford to hire humans to man the phones?? I think that customer service is certainly taught in retailing 101...are they above this?

I know, I know!!! What if they made customer support a 1-900 number!!! $4.99 a minute to talk to a real live human at ebaY!!! Or maybe $4.99 for the first minute, and Only A Dollar for each additional minute!

Actually, I can understand their point. They are not the ones selling and also most "customer service" calls are to some boiler outfit that handles a multitude of clients.
If they haven't set up a program for that, then it would be hard to handle a wide variety of calls in a timely/professional manner. Of course if they did away with the 1-800 and did use a 1-900 then they might generate some extra revenue.
