I had an auction end four weeks ago-

One of the winners finally answered my EOA after a week and a reminder email- Said she was sorry for the delay, had been on a business trip, and would PayPal me the money ASAP. OK - No problem.

A week later, no payment, so I send another reminder. Reply: "Oh so sorry; death in the family, will PayPal you ASAP"

Another week passes, I send another reminder.

Reply: "Oh, Sorry- my brother-in law's house was damaged in the Napa earthquake, and I've been helping with the cleanup (she lives in Boston), but will PayPal the money ASAP."

That was three days ago. Still no payment- (The amount in question is $10.00 by the way.)

What do you think- post a neg now, or just file FVF and see what happens?

I always FVF before negging. Not because the buyer is entitled, just to save myself the trouble of relisting. I've seen way too many buyers cough up the money once they receive an official e-mail from eBay.

I think you have to file a NPB before you can file an FVF. Most people respond to "reminder" sent by eBay. If you don't get paid in 10 days, file the FVF and then neg her.
I just had to do that with one of my buyers and it really bothered me to give her negative feedback but she gave me a run around for 5 weeks while I was holding the merchandise.

HELNJOE-
You are, of course, correct about doing a NPB first.

However MY experiences with NPB response is a lot worse than yours. I've had to file about 40 of them since that system started- Have only had 2 people send payment after the "official" eBay "please pay your seller" email. All the rest were complete deadbeats, and I had to file FVFs on them.
