Wife & I are in constant state of turmoil over length of posting. I opt for 10 day, starting usually on Thur. or Fri. getting 2 full weekends of exposure. (wifey thinks too long). I've read the standard "Tips & Tricks available re: this topic. How 'bout you seasoned vets??? Wadda you think?

You could argue that the 10 day posting gives you more exposure. You could also argue that the 3 day posting has less chance of a bidder changing their mind.

If I was offering items that are readily available then 3 day auctions. If I'm offering something that's rarely offered then 10 day auctions.

If I'm dealing with my wife, I do it her way.

Depends what you're listing. Got something unique, rare, unusual with not much competition? List it for 10 days for maximum exposure, so more potential bidders can find it.

Listing something that has some competition but needs a bit more exposure to bidders than three days--like jeans, jackets with specific sizing? I'd list it for 5 or 7 days for a quicker sale, but with decent time exposure.

Listing a mass retail product--printer cartridges, bubble wrap or the like--folks want it fast. Do three days on it.

thx uaru & Murph. Points well made. Uniqueness? I dunno. I've listed everything from old Life Magazines, & parting with my collection of vintage vinyl lp's, to my Dad's complete inventory of his tropical fish shop. (still waiting for high bidder to work out transport details from Ohio to Oregon with that one!) I've only had 1 retraction, due to eBay yanking the bidder off & suspending them for whatever reason. Auction still ended successfuly. Recently started to list some U.S. Coins from my collection. I guess about the most "common" items I do. Will certainly consider shorter posts on those.

uaru...LOL re: the wife! I concur.

Murph...If I were to sell bubble wrap 'en mass, in what should I pack it, and how do I protect it??? : )
