Dear sir, I am writing to explain why I haven't sent your money yet...I am now living in a hotel because our home was flooded and IM going to be here for the next 10 or 12 days...I was able to make access through the hotel e-mail. I'm sorry for the delay. I cant access my old e-mail to get your address. I dot know how to continue. I am sorry for the delay...I have been shoveling out $ trying to get the flood damage under control.(As if the flood wasn't enough i was side swiped by a hit and run driver) As soon as I get into my house and see where we are i would like to be able to complete the transaction...if this is possible please let me know. Again, i'm terribly sorry for the trouble i've caused but i didn't plan to get flooded and be removed from my home for weeks. If you would please respond ASAP I will know how to proceed.

If he lives in the NE, he could be telling the truth..there has been some nasty flooding in the NJ area...OR he could just have seen the news reports & found a clever new excuse.

I have been very careful about keeping up with my Ebay business, even though my dad isn't expected to live more than a few days....I can already see the complaints "Yeah, and she took TWO EXTRA days to get my item in the mail. Gave me some excuse about a dying parent.....". It kind of bites that the deadbeats have made our real-life personal tragedies invalid reasons for not performing at our usual level.

Wow, your deadbeat is more entertaining than mine. He was just out of town for two months, but not to worry he still had access to computer and could continue to bid, because 22 were mine!

Thanks for sharing the amusing story!
Tex

You mean no one's used the "dog ate the checkbook" excuse?
