I went into PayPal and closed my account. Do I also need to stop the logos that they put on my auctions, or would closing the account take care of that? I'm assuming it would. I'm just a small-time, average joe seller/buyer on eBay trying to make ends meet. I'm getting so tired of all these so-called "free" services and then they turn around and stick it to ya. I'm just getting my feet wet as far as selling on eBay (have about 90 + feedbacks) and I'm really thinking about putting some things up at a consignment shop in this area. I know a couple people who do this and they seem to do pretty well. I know that I wouldn't get the traffic as on eBay, but I think I'll give it a shot. If anybody has any opinions on going the consignment shop route, I'd like to hear them as I've really learned a lot from the experienced people here on the msg. board....Thank you!

I think you're going to have to "revise" your auctions and delete the Paypal logo.

You may want to think again about consigning your stuff. Any shops I've dealt with charge 40% of the sale price. Now, the vast majority of the stuff I list on ebay sells the first week; unless your stuff is really unusual OR your consignor aggressively merchandises it (i.e., puts it in the window rather than on the shelf with 100 other items) AND has a ton of traffic, you're not going to get your 60% cut within the 2 weeks you'd normally get your ebay $. Even assuming you're paying $3 to list an item and 5% FVF, you're going to be way ahead by selling on ebay in comparison to doing the same in a consignment shop.

Appreciate your comment HCQ - that makes a lot of sense to me.

I think you still have to take the logos off your auctions, I do not believe just closing your account will take care of it. I have 2 booths at antique malls, which are somewhat like consigment. If the commission is fair, I think it can be a great way to go, especially for larger items. You may not get as much exposure, but you also have very little work involved. You drop your item off, they do the rest. Some things don't sell on eBay and some things don't sell in the mall. It's nice to have both to cover all the bases.

Also, the way I look at consignment is you really don't have anything to loose. If it doesn't sell, you don't have to pay. Can't hurt to try.

Closing a PayPal account certainly would not initiate any automated edit of your auctions.
