While its possible that the SOURCE of the outage was external, the CAUSE of the outage is eBay not being properly prepared for external problems.

Well, it was *nice* of them to mention this BEFORE calling the authorities, becuz once they are on the job, they impose a TOTAL INFO BLACKOUT - there are too many kopykat cybercrimes, so they always insist that attacked corporations to go mute.
