I am putting a few plus size clothes, and some juniors size misses clothes on ebay. One of the items in the juniors is a jacket from Walt Disney parks and resorts, Mickeys yacht club. My question is, do you sell internationally and do you get better bids that way on clothing? How do the shipping rates run?

Hi,

I sell clothing and I do ship internationally. You can't ship internationally in regular Priority Boxes so I get gift boxes and clear tape and tape the entire box so it's waterproof and damage proof. I bought a huge box of gift boxes at an auction for $1 and another huge box of gift boxes at a yard sale - but you can also get them at the dollar stores for about 4/$1.00. (I also get my clear tape at the Dollar Stores). In 2 1/2 years I've been shipping internationally like that and have never had a problem yet!

The rates differ depending on where you ship to. Usually the packages are small enough where I can ship them by "Small Packet Air". That's the cheapest and quickest way to ship internationally.

You can go to http://www.usps.com and click on "international rates" and enter the info and you can see how much shipping is... but Small Packet Air is how I ship 99% of my international packages.

Good luck!
Valerie

Valerie47, You have answered some of my questions and for that I thank you. Do you get a lot of international bids, and do you feel that your items sell for more because of those bids? How do you word the shipping in your TOS? So many questions, so little time!

I have a lot of international buyers and i like that. In my TOS i just put the shipping will be xxx and international shipping may be higher. That way they know to ask instead of just sending the money.

Rarriffle,

I ship anywhere from 2 to 5 international packages per week. (And I ship hundreds of packages per week to the US). It's not a whole lot compared to my regular packages but I do have repeat international customers. I have had international bidders bid far more than I had expected the bids to go. So yes, I do think that they make the bids higher.

This is what I state in my TOS for International Bidders:

Your bids are always welcome, but please note that shipping out of the U.S. may be very costly. If you would like a shipping amount before bidding, please send me your country that I will be shipping to and I will get you the information as soon as possible. And please do not ask me to fill out the customs form as "gift" - the customs form will be filled out HONESTLY as "merchandise" and the amount will be the amount of your bid.

Hope that helps!

Valerie

As usual, good advice found here. I was wondering about the Mickey Mouse jacket in particular. Would it go for more bucks internationally? Who knows?

I don't know about the Mickey Mouse jacket. I list everything "will sell internationally" and whoever bids, whether someone international or not, is fine with me. I haven't noticed a particular pattern on what sells internationally and what doesn't.
