The summer might be over and it seems bidders have spent a little too much time in the sun:

1) A high bidder would only pay half the shipping charge even though the full amount was clearly stated in the auction. Why? They live across town and quote "...see no reason to pay for sending something across town."

2) Bidding went very well on an auction and closed much higher than we thought it would. Sent EOA notice to high bidder. Bidder refuses to pay saying quote "Why should I pay $X when you sell it on your web site for only $Y??" We pointed it this is an auction and they were free not to bid and buy from us directly if they wanted. But having bid and won that's the price.

3) High bidder wants to know why they can't phone in thier bid.

And my favorite:

4) Bidder doesn't want to pay the $.85 for insurance but insists the item be double wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed (not enveloped) because otherwise they will return it and neg us if it's damaged.

Had to vent this. Thanks for listening.

Can you say negative feedback?

Had a buyer respond last night to an end of auction email with these satements.

"I would appreciate you not holding for check to clear as I have very high, perfect feedback. Also, I don't need insurance so the shipping will be $3.20..I'm sure you will wrap these well and they will get here fine."

Interesting thing is...It is stated in bold lettering in the auction that I do not hold for checks AND the shipping was quoted, in the auction and on the EOA email, as $2.50.

Do people read anymore?

Oh..the VERY high feedback was under 300. Wonder what she would call 5000 feedback?

Amy - tell her you'll do it just for her, and that she's certainly welcome to send $3.20 for shipping.

Amy: I have a theory on this ["do people read any more?"]

I think that YES, they do - which is why they bid on your auction. But, from the time they bid until the time the auction close, they've forgotten the specifics that you have listed in your particular auction. Unless the bidder goes back to the auction page immediately after it closes, or unless the bidder never bids on more than one auction at a time, I don't think it's reasonable for the seller to expect that the bidder remember the details.

The details were sufficient to get them to bid - after they win, they need to be told the details again in the invoice.
